Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Repair and perform preventative maintenance on Company equipment/machinery. Success in this role it based on response time, completion of Preventative Maintenance (PM) work, and uptime for Manufacturing and Components lines.  This role will work on-site at Jacobs Vehicle Systems (JVS) in Bloomfield, CT.  JVS is part of Altra.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and correct electrical malfunctions.
  • Most PLC and HMI activities, including troubleshooting and programming.
  • Creating documentation for projects, such as drawing, schematics, and layouts.
  • Test electrical circuits in equipment, including CNC automated and semi-automated equipment.
  • Adjust mechanical parts and adjust, align and calibrate equipment according to specifications
  • Repair/replace electrical components.
  • Detect and resolve wiring issues.
  • Troubleshooting, using multimeters, amp probes, test leads, polarity meters, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, and other reference material.
  • Will perform duties as assigned on a wide variety of equipment/machinery, servo-mechanisms, and control devices.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Solid understanding of electrical codes including but not limited to wire sizes and current draw
  • Knowledgeable and adherence of OSHA Electrical Safety Standards
  • Proficiency with the practice of Facility and Equipment Maintenance Standards
  • Experience with trouble-shooting electrical circuits
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have a sense of urgency, technical expertise, with a focus on continuous improvement

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 3-5 years of applicable maintenance experience required (5-7 preferred)
  • Must be able to pass prescreening, written test, hands-on test, and face-to-face interviews

 

Physical & Working Environment:

Jacobs Vehicle Systems is a heavy-duty manufacturing facility.  As such, all employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas within the facility.  Given the scope of responsibility and assignment; employees may be exposed to any or all of the following conditions:  Extensive sitting or standing; climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and other substantial movements for up to 8 hours per day, not including potential voluntarily overtime; loud noises; exposure to oils, coolants, fumes, odors and other potential hazardous chemicals and materials. Employees are required to have visual acuity to support the basic functions of the role as defined above.  JVS adheres to all required standard procedures to ensure the safety of its employees at all times.
