Job Description

Responsible for the world class development, execution, and continuous improvement of the environmental, health, and safety program (EHS) at JVS globally.  The incumbent will directly manage the Bloomfield EHS team while providing support and guidance to other global sites.



•Utilizes proactive risk assessment processes to create a roadmap for EHS continuous improvement. 
•         Plans and implements environmental programs and prepares/submits reports in compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations.
•         Plans and implements health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
•         Plans, implements and trains site personnel on various EHS policies and programs, including, but not limited to safety practices, fire prevention, personal protective equipment, regulations and standards, incident investigation.
•         Sets EHS annual goals for manufacturing sites, analyzes performance and sets strategies for year over year improvement.
•         Provides monthly summary reports on the progress towards EHS goals, on site EHS activities, and any agency/regulatory inspections/violations.
•         Supports Corporate EHS audit program – including EHS audits of global facilities, arranges for periodic 3rd party EHS audits, tracks audit completion, provides assistance to facilities to resolve action items.
•         Supports the U.S Worker’s Compensation program including regular calls with TPA, interfacing with TPA, internal WC claims review meetings, litigation and settlement, and challenging claims.
•         Manages the FM Global program for the company including tracking and assisting on resolution of recommendations and updating MyRisk.
•         Develops and delivers presentations to executive management, individual site leadership teams and Corporate EHS professionals/staff.
•         Manages and evaluates applicable environmental sustainability actions.
•         Identifies and suggests corrective measures to improve each site’s accident experience and to suggest/implement means to achieve site EHS goals.
•         Ensures that mandatory OSHA reporting (U.S only) is completed – i.e.: annual OSHA 300 log, notification of serious accident etc.
•         Inspects facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
•         Manages facility improvement projects including but not limited to construction, building security, and energy consumption improvement.
•         Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
•         Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
•         Interacts with EHS regulatory agencies during site inspections (when possible); provides guidance to satellite sites on EHS regulatory inspections.
•         Provides oversight for the proper handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals and material for the facility.   
•         Create annual objectives and development plans for direct reports, establish feedback loops, and perform annual reviews.
•         Promote and lead direct report and overall team Engagement Initiatives by encouraging participation in the Annual Survey, Leading Feedback Sessions, and creating, executing, and sustaining action plans.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 10+ years of EHS experience, 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in a machining or industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Must be flexible and have a hands-on approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong leadership experience and background.
  • Experience with managing facilities and/or equipment projects.
  • Certification by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CSP), the American Board of Industrial Hygienists (CIH) is recommended.  Additional certification such as the Certified Worker’s Compensation Professional (CWCP) and the Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) are considered assets.



  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with focus in Environmental, Health and Safety, related studies (science/engineering) required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
