Job Description

The Information Technology Financial Analyst supports the Chief Information Officer and direct reports in developing, deploying and governing standardized financial processes within IT, as well as function as a key liaison to line of business and corporate finance/accounting.

The oversight and analysis of contracts, licensing agreements, annual maintenance and support, and IT procurement activities will be an area of growth and opportunity to increase knowledge of, and insight into IT business management in this newly created role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

IT Financial Accounting & Analysis

  • Participates in the planning/budgeting, forecasting, and development of asset management processes for software, hardware and IT tools and support.
  • Provide ongoing support for program and project level cost accounting by working directly with department managers and program managers to maintain timely project cost tracking schedules with reporting on plan to actual results
  • Supports invoice review and approval process and tracking against contractual terms
  • Works with IT project owners to prepare for monthly IT budget meetings
  • Supports capital planning and forecasting, asset disposition and tracking of depreciation
  • Documentation of current processes for internal hardware and software procurement and billing processes
  • Supports preparation of management reports, and leads in presenting results to senior management
  • Keeps current on new GAAP accounting guidance as related to the technology industry

Contracts, Support/Maintenance, Software License Agreement Management

  • Provides routine reporting to IT leadership; refine baseline reports & dashboards
  • Supports IT leadership team in managing documents through the redline/review process
  • Identifies opportunities for future enhancements and recommends process improvements
  • Tracks contract renewals and initiates internal renewal discussions with IT leadership team
  • Assists vendor managers in identification of key contract terms for tracking/reporting

Procurement & Vendor Management Processes

  • Form "buying team" for each new effort (architecture, security, business analyst, business sponsor)
  • Provide initial contact with potential vendors; ensure NDA documentation is executed
  • Issue RFI/RFP with business team developed requirements and track responses
  • Develop Business Case / TCO Analysis
  • Work with the buying team to prepare proposal for review with leadership

Job Requirements

Critical Competencies

  • Experience with financial statement preparation and reporting
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment
  • A team player, able to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the organization
  • Ability to effectively communicate accounting issues with various departments
  • Proficient with the Microsoft office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and a minimum of five years relevant experience
  • Experience in IT financial or contract management preferred
  • Public accounting experience a plus
