Job Description

In this strategic role, the Investor Relations Director will be responsible for developing and leading the implementation of a first-rate investor relations program for a growing company in the industrial automation space. Reporting to the CFO, this individual also will work closely with the CEO and other senior management team members to ensure that a consistent message is communicated to all stakeholder audiences, and that the company is effectively managing all facets of its outreach to the investment community.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a research-based investor relations strategy, including comprehensive messaging and investor outreach plans
  • Serve as primary contact with current and potential investors and sell-side analysts
  • Educate investors and analysts about the company’s business model, strategy, and operational and financial objectives
  • Manage investor event calendar including, but not limited to, company-sponsored and sell-side sponsored non-deal roadshows as well as investor conferences
  • Develop key external messages and materials to effectively communicate to key investor audiences 
  • Gather investor feedback, and industry and competitor information, and report to management
  • Ensure Reg FD and other regulatory compliance and train management and employees as to the importance of such compliance
  • Provide management with perspective on investor expectations and perceptions relative to company financials, strategy and market position
  • Create a dynamic investor presentation that accurately reflects the company’s performance and prospects
  • Ensure that the company has a state-of-the-art investor relations website with user-friendly navigation, effective messaging and up-to-date information
  • Manage the quarterly communications process, including working with management and external IR firm on the earnings release, call script and potential questions document
  • Manage annual report process, including developing shareholder letter 
  • As a key member of the disclosure committee, work with finance team to ensure that investor communications are consistent with SEC filings
  • Monitor the company’s institutional ownership and trading trends and educate management about market sentiment and reactions to company announcements
  • Monitor relevant news, investor relations activities/communications and SEC filings from peer companies and summarize for management
  • Prepare a quarterly report for the board of directors on investor relations strategy, and past and future activities to achieve that strategy as well as data on the company’s shareholder base and investor sentiment
  • Coordinate and manage shareholder engagement plan
  • Maintain an understanding of sell-side analyst estimates, models and valuation

Job Requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Exceptional understanding of investor relations best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to multitask and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling and knowledge of capital markets
  • Experience in valuation analysis and methodologies
  • Strong ability to manage large projects
  • Experience in event management
  • Confidence to provide continuous feedback to senior management

Qualifications

  • Must have undergraduate degree; CFA, MBA or other finance education is preferred 
  • 10+ years of investor relations experience
  • Frequent travel required to attend investor conferences and non-deal roadshows
