Job Description

Jacobs Vehicle Systems is offering an exciting opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing engineering.  Interns are given the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to address real world business needs.  While internships are typically technical in nature, our program also includes a human element which requires strong leadership and communication.   We believe this combination enables the development of both interpersonal and professional skills of the intern.

The objectives for all interns are based upon specific business needs at that given time. All assigned projects will provide broad exposure to the organization while supporting academic training in the field of manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Support production activities and issues on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of tasks assigned by the Operations team.
  • Support continuous improvement activities throughout the organization.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements.
  • Other specific responsibilities will vary based upon the immediate needs of the business.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products  
  • Possess strong analytic and statistic skills
  • Has theoretical knowledge of operational concepts including labor allocation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others as well as work autonomously 
  • Must be self-motivated and ambitious
  • Available to work 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Education:

  • Must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate program with a major in Manufacturing Engineering, Management & Engineering for Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or comparable field of study 
  • Seeking Junior or Senior level students only
