Job Description

Plans top level jobs for Brush, Brushless and Large Motors product lines in order to level load the factory to execute to our financial forecasts and customer commitments.  Implement and sustain factory capacity planning tools and process.  Analyzes and takes action on plant level data supporting operational execution and continuous improvement.

The Master Planner will be joining the Kollmorgen team in Radford, VA.  Kollmorgen is part of Altra (AIMC). 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilizes best practices and leads continuous improvement in scheduling, planning, and inventory control to ensure proper flow of materials throughout the value streams and drive year over year inventory turns improvement
  • Assists in executing inventory action plans and problem solving activities to support team in meeting or exceeding budgetary performance on inventory
  • Owns “A” customer forecast management and communication
  • Utilizes production and operating data and drives the appropriate action.  This is including but not limited to supporting PSI, SIR process owner, backlog management, customer forecast accuracy, and capacity planning
  • Manages flow of materials between Radford and Tijuana. This includes placing requisitions, managing pull in requests, and managing PSI with Vista team

Job Requirements

 NATURE and SCOPE

This candidate must exercise a continuous improvement mindset around plant level planning activities and inventory control.  He or she must be technically proficient to “troubleshoot” issues relating to materials and related systems.  A strong commitment to quality, on-time delivery, and inventory is required.  Must be able to influence and lead others in the organization without direct authority.  Candidate is expected to thrive in a high-pressure, fast paced, agile environment.  Candidate should be results oriented and driven by the success of the team over one’s self.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • 5 Years Manufacturing Experience.
  • Prior experience with planning and scheduling within MRP systems required.
  • Proficient Excel user is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or related is preferred.
  • Understanding of inventory control methods is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing is preferred.
