Job Description


Under the direction of the Planning Manager, Planner utilizes the available tools and methods to plan and support the fulfillment of customer orders.  The Planner will ensure the timely deliveries of quality materials and components, and timely execution of customer orders. The Planner will actively participate in cross-functional teams to insure a continuous improvement of process, productivity, and delivery of products. The Planner coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to daily and weekly production schedules.  Duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules.




Duties include but are not limited to:


  • Assist in identify procurement needs and trends.
  • Ensure daily production requirements are achieved to meet customer expectations.
  • Analyze and prepare documents needed for production.
  • Data analysis and decision making to support raw material supply and finished goods demand.
  • Creates production schedule and prioritizes job-orders for production optimization.
  • Maintains the production scheduled and other reports as required.
  • Follow-up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectation.
  • Interacts with shop floor managements on a daily basis to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies or additional information as requested from manufacturing, customer service.
  • Actively support the implementation of Altra’s Business System/ Lean manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with replenishment systems such as kanban, visual signals, etc.

Job Requirements


  • Experience with procurement in the manufacturing industry.
  • Understanding of ERP system and Microsoft Office products; strong computer skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Detain-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Good customer service/phone skills and flexibility for handling a wide range of activities.
  • Demonstrate personal time management skills.
  • Has good problem solving skills and can easily revise a plan when needed.
  • Is flexible and able to react to changes as needed.
  • Set the example by actively contributing to department and company goals.
  • Take initiative and seek additional training or direction as needed.
  • Develop and achieve departmental/company goals and controls.  Make suggestions for improvement in areas of cost reduction, processes, quality and productivity.

  • BS degree in procurement/ planning or related field, preferred
  • Minimum 4 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably including  aerospace and defense related products

This position requires occasional travel. The employee must be able to fly or drive out of town to attend meeting with customers and suppliers or attend training. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and to stand 25% of the day.
