Job Description

The Process and Procurement Engineer will work on a wide range of projects that are related to (but not limited to): changing material specifications, changing suppliers, validating new suppliers, changing supply chain purchasing points (i.e., insourcing, outsourcing, moving to or from distributors, etc.).

To succeed as the Process and Procurement Engineer, you’ll need to be an excellent listener, be able to work independently and be a team leader, communicate well and be super organized. We are looking for a motivated individual with a proven track record of VAVE skills; with a strong emphasis on overall project management of the manufacturing function. This position will require you to work with many departments and external contacts. This role reports to the Purchasing Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement savings ideas by working with a multitude of cross functional teams including Purchasing, Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to execute projects from start to production
  • Develop documented and robust processes/methodologies to facilitate rapid development and implementation on new programs
  • Responsible for the generation of ideas and development of cost reduction roadmap
  • Perform research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
  • Develops internal and external business case to justify investments/design changes
  • Work directly with suppliers
  • Assess & identify other products where VA/VE opportunities lie
  • Prioritize all proposals based on anticipated savings, improvement potential, and implementation time
  • Determines and communicate best-practices to future programs
  • Manage project implementation, working with Project group

Job Requirements

Critical Competencies

  • Self-motivated with a determination to exceed project objectives
  • Ability to organize and manage simultaneous tasks and projects
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment

 Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field, manufacturing environment, or other relevant work experience
  • Experience or skills in Project Management a plus (CPM, Gantt Charting, Resource Balancing, Phase Gates, etc.)
  • Experience developing business cases, ROI calculations, and developing and proposing trade studies to help foster effective, fact-based decision making
  • Travel up to 50% including some overnight travel required
  • Strong knowledge of Engineering and program management practices and quality tools and techniques
