Job Description

This role is primarily responsible for integrity, quality, deployment and maintenance of promotional websites, back end systems, enterprise service bus and related digital marketing projects.  Collaborates with internal and external resources on selected web projects from concept through execution and daily maintenance.  Reports to the Manager, Web and Software Development.


Administer, provide training for and maintain Thomson online marketing systems globally including:

  • Thomson websites using Thomson's Open Text content management and delivery systems
  • Secondary Thomson websites developed with static html, CSS and JavaScript and/or legacy content management systems
  • 3D model download hosting services and online integration
  • Advizia/MCS Product selection system and online integration
  • Web integrations with
  • Support for Thomson's custom ASP.NET MVC web applications, including engineering-style sizing/selection tools as needed
  • Support for Thomson's Stibo Step Product Information Management (PIM) database as needed
  • Support other online/digital marketing systems as needed
  • Development and/or maintenance of database systems including analytic services
  • Development and/or maintenance of Solr search capabilities

Administer projects, tasks and collaborative functions for troubleshooting problems and maintaining related documentation.  Provide/oversee development of Thomson web editing and programming projects including:

  • CMS web editing projects, tasks and maintenance
  • Web code development and integration for custom functionality
  • Language translation handling for all online systems
  • Microsite development and integration
  • Web response form development, administration and integration (notably integration with, product selectors, 3D downloads and custom web applications/services)
  • Implementation of search engine optimization tactics
  • Digital asset management
  • Product selector data development, integration and maintenance
  • Definition/maintenance of metrics for online activity
  • Maintain synchronization between Thomson business processes and enterprise service capabilities

Coordinate system integrations, infrastructure and maintenance with Altra IT to sustain functionality of Thomson on line systems within company security guidelines.


Administer and maintain online media, including:

  • Online document administration and handling via website and
  • check and verify global print literature inventories for online ordering
  • Video integration with web properties, distribution, storage
  • Coordinate and maintain archiving system including project code distribution and storage

Responsible for staying abreast of the latest industry trends, best practices and competitive activities related to marketing communications for Thomson.

Job Requirements


  • B.S. degree in Information Systems or Computer Engineering/Science or equivalent experience
  • 10 or more years experience in software development projects related to online internet communications, web management and associated technologies




  • Understanding and application of internal server system technologies including content management and delivery systems
  • ASP.NET MVC (Core preferable) C#
  • Development of RESTful web services, JSON, XML
  • Fundamental SQL Server management, including strong T-SQL skills
  • Website administration, management and development skills (webmaster level)
  • Mobile development including both responsive web design for mobile and native mobile application
  • Expertise in html, JavaScript, JQuery and CSS and related web interface development techniques
  • Familiarity with .JSP development is preferred but not required
