Job Description

Our focus is to provide graduates, who wish to pursue a career in Human Resources, the opportunity to gain experience in the various facets of this exciting field.

The project-based role will focus on developing projects that are critical to the development of the Operating Company (Kollmorgen, part of Altra) platform. The intern will be introduced to key drivers of HR and work on projects that support HR goals. The Intern might be involved in Performance and Talent Review, Training and Development, and other special projects that arise from company HR Key Performance Indicators.

Recruiting

  • In the recruiting role the intern will focus on fielding the best team for their company.  The Intern will learn how to handle the tactical "filling" processes of posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews and facilitating debrief sessions to arrive at hiring decisions.  Some of the job duties may include:
    • Learning behavioral interviewing skills
    • Conducting phone and in person interviews
    • Tactical duties of recruiting, including posting jobs, managing candidates, scheduling interviews and doing offer and on boarding paperwork and processes
    • Partner with the businesses and hiring managers to understand talent needs and help fill positions.
    • Conduct meetings to understand specs for positions and to help drive decisions on hiring the best talent.
    • Initiate and manage background checks and drug screens
    • Partner with HR team to understand organization changes, headcount forecasts and to improve relations with the businesses when needed.

Generalist

  • In the Generalist role the Intern will have the opportunity to experience all the facets of Human Resources. You will support a plant, facility, or a specific function (customer support, engineering, sales, etc.). Among other things this role will introduce the Intern to Associate Relations, Benefits Administration, monthly reporting, Kollmorgen policy and procedure, and provide contact with company HR Leaders. Some of the job duties may include:
    • Handling day-to-day associate issues
    • Recruiting production and salary associates
    • On boarding of new associates
    • Benefits Support
    • FMLA and Short-Term Disability
    • Coordinating associate events
    • Preparing and administering internal communication programs
    • Coordinating and conducting training and development programs
    • Monthly metric reporting

 

Job Requirements

 Education and/or Experience

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree required, degree in Management, Human Resources, or similar degree preferred.
  • Previous internship experience in field of study preferred.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of associates ranging from assembly technicians to management.
