Shift Supervisor - Evening Shift

The Arrow Diagnostic Center is the primary entrance into foster care and our series of programs that together help adolescents develop hope, find their purpose in life, and acquire life skills for future independent adult living. This is a short-term (90-day) residential program with a structured, home-like environment where males and females between the ages of 12 through 18 receive therapy, treatment planning, psychiatric and psychological services, and accredited academic instruction. The resulting comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessment will assist with future placement in foster care, treatment and education planning.

As Shift Supervisor for our 90-day, residential diagnostic program, you'll lead your team in maintaining an orderly and therapeutic environment for males and females, 12-18 years old who have been removed from abuse or neglect. Not only will you supervise and coordinate staff, you'll also combine your observation and communication skills as you maintain regular contact with residents, monitoring their psychological, emotional, and physical well-being. Your input will be invaluable as you consult with other treatment team members on treatment planning and future placement needs. Education, Licensure and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED and at least three (3) years experience working with children and families preferably in the child welfare industry or a combination of Bachelor's Degree and less than three (3) years relevant experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the ministry.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. .

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.

Other Requirements

  • Must be flexible and able to assist with coverage in short staffing situations
  • Must be able to become CMT Certified. (This is State Certification, Maryland is not approving applicants if they owe the State)
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace environment and manage acute crisis behaviors
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proof of current Auto Registration, Inspection and Insurance
  • Driving Record (three years) from the state in which the driver's license is valid
  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must submit to and pass random drug tests during employment.
  • Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may have occasional contact with cleaning solvents, aromatics and nuisance dusts. Some locations may require PCM (Professional Crisis Management) Training.

Other physical requirements specific to this job: Required to stand up to 5 hours a day Occasionally required to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to push/pull up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to bend, stoop, crouch or required to stand from a kneeling position, with both knees down, 5 times in one minute
