Shift Supervisor



As Shift Supervisor at the Amarillo Residential Treatment Center, you'll be part of a team that offers treatment services to children in a residential setting. Your passion for helping kids will be evident as you provide direct supervision, accompany them to on and off campus activities, and play a vital role in their assessment and treatment. Your interaction and relationship with the kids will be key to helping each boy and girl begin to heal from their past and prepare for their next stop in child welfare


Supervisory responsibilities

This position directly supervises staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Arrow Child & Family Ministries policies, State and Federal laws and policy and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance including coaching and future performance development; manages training needs through learning management system; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Maintain quality improvement goals and address at regularly scheduled staff meetings.

Education, Licensure and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED and at least three (3) years experience working with children and families preferably in the child welfare industry or a combination of Bachelor's Degree and less than three (3) years relevant experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the ministry.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. .

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • Proof of current auto registration, inspection, and Insurance
  • Driving Record (three years) from the state in which the driver's license is valid
  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must submit to and pass random drug tests during employment
  • Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

The employee is also regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may have occasional contact with cleaning solvents, aromatics and nuisance dusts. Some locations may require PCM (Professional Crisis Management) Training.

Other physical requirements specific to this job: Required to stand up to 5 hours a day Occasionally required to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to push/pull up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to bend, stoop, crouch or required to stand from a kneeling position, with both knees down, 5 times in one minute

Key: Constantly: (67-100%) 6-8 hours Frequently: (34-66%) 4-6 hours Occasionally: (0-33%) 1-3 hours
