Social Worker/Treatment Specialist



As Treatment Specialist for our 90-day, residential diagnostic program, you'll be a critical member of a professional team dedicated to transforming the lives of males and females, 12-17 years old. These are kids who have been removed from abuse or neglect, and are in Foster Care, kids who have psychiatric issues/hospitalizations, or kids from the juvenile justice system. Using the results of your assessment of each youth, you'll develop their comprehensive treatment plan and make placement recommendations. You'll also have an immediate impact on their lives by providing direct clinical services including individual, group and family therapy. Your passion and commitment to helping kids succeed will be the key to impacting the lives of the kids in your care.

Education, Licensure and/or Experience

Master's Degree in Social Work or related field with LGSW or LGPC and at least one (1) year experience working with children and families preferably in a residential setting.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the ministry.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.

Other Requirements

  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must submit to and pass random drug tests during employment.
  • Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state of Maryland.

The employee is also regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may have occasional contact with cleaning solvents, aromatics and nuisance dusts. Some locations may require PCM (Professional Crisis Management) Training.

Other physical requirements specific to this job: Occasionally required to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to push/pull up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to climb stairs. Occasionally required to bend, stoop, crouch or required to stand from a kneeling position, with both knees down, 5 times in one minute
