 Account Clerk





Duties to include:


  • Assists callers in accessing services for Behavioral Health with the Department of Human Services.
  •  Takes incoming calls and/or conducts face-to-face interviews to assist potential consumers in accessing services.
  • Completes Initial contact with consumers
  •  Registers consumers using our Electronic Health Record,
  • Obtain Access times and locations and tracks phone calls on electronic call log.
  • Verifies] client insurance information on web based portals
  • Enters client insurance information in the Electronic Health Record if applicable.
  • Communicates effectively with Fee Clerks and unit staff regarding insurance coverage.
  •  Assists in monitoring consumer’s monthly Medicaid eligibility
  • Collects faxed discharge paperwork from local hospitals for scheduling and scanning paperwork to appropriate staff.
  •  Assists with monthly statements, sorting and sending statements to units/staff that have no address to ensure clients get their statements.
  • Monitors all returned mail



Knowledge of the following:
  • Office terminology, procedures, software, and equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of insurance policies & procedures
  • Knowledge of business mathematics, correct grammar and punctuation, and elementary bookkeeping
  • Knowledgeable in state and federal regulations regarding confidentiality.

Qualifications:


● Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff members 

● Ability to multitask, focus on tasks without distraction and complete tasks in a timely manner.  
● Strong interpersonal interviewing skills and customer service.

● Ability to work independently and in a team environment

● Knowledge of data entry into database and spreadsheets with accuracy.

● Ability to generate reports from spreadsheets.

● Strong skills with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Access database.

● Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask 


 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education/experience/etc.)

High school or GED plus three (3) years’ experience in such positions as or any equivalent combination of experience in Behavioral Health/Medical scheduling/insurance and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and Abilities.
