Job Description

Educator I

Supports the Substance Abuse Intervention Program to educate adolescents on substance abuse. 

Duties to include but not limited to the following:

•         Collaborate with SAIP Program Lead to implement a substance abuse curriculum

•         Network and participate in alcohol, tobacco and awareness campaigns

•         Assist with providing orientatin or information to parents, teachers and school administrators

•         Conduct merchant education for Lock and Talk VA and Synar DBHDS mandated priorities

•         Participate in health and resources fairs and community events

•         Train as Mental Health First Aid Adult and Youth Trainer

•         Support Behavior Health wellness and Prevention Services sponsored Events and Conferences during evening and weekend hours.

•         Must comply with CSB requirement to complete 20 hours of Prevention Specific Training.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•         Knowledge of program implementation and techniques

•         Knowledge of consultation skills

•         Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs and ability to impart that knowledge to a wide variety of audiences

•         Knowledge of Strategic Prevention Framework Model

•         Skills in MS Word and Publisher

•         Ability to speak clearly and concisely

•         Ability to maintain recordkeeping systems

•         Ability to work effectively as a co-facilitator in a team and group setting

Qualifications

Requires any education above the high school level and/or experience equal vent to 5 years in the fields such as mental health, substance abuse, training or counseling that require knowledge skills and abilities.

Specific Credentials (Licensure/Certificates) Certified Prevention Professional (CPP) and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) preferred.
