Job Description


The Sales Engineer is a strategic technical consultant responsible for the planning, and assisting with the design and implementation of Atlantic Broadband solutions to ensure a successful customer experience. The SE is an integral part to the sales organization and is positioned to support direct sales and account management by identifying opportunities to leverage products and services to increase revenue and provide value to our customers. This role reports to the Regional Director Sales.

Responsibilities:

•        Attend customer appointments to provide technical expertise, product demonstrations and design consultation as it relates to the customer’s needs.

•        Work closely with Atlantic Broadband engineering team for product designs and solutions.

•        Provide pre-sales network and business requirement consultation expertise.

•        Address technical questions from customers and their vendors, and ensure the company's network integrity through quality design and cost effective solutions.

•        Create business plans incorporating all elements of network and products to determine pricing strategy that is both competitive and profitable.

•        Create network topology diagrams, cost summaries and detailed scope of work documentation for sales and post-sale implementation teams.

•        Conduct product training for sales and account management to include voice/data/Internet/security/cloud applications with a focus on strategic positioning and competitive advantage.

•        Understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), MPLS, MEF Standards

•        Knowledge of 1, 10 and 100Gbps Ethernet

•        Knowledge of DWDM based transport solutions

•        General understanding of Layer1 connections, multimode and single mode fiber, various transceivers.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

•        BS in related field

•        3-5+ years relevant experience in service provider sales engineering

•        Self-motivated with a proven track record in telecommunications sales and knowledge of technology.

•        Comfortable in a dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization developing solutions tailored to large business customers’ needs.

•        Must possess strong presentation skills and be comfortable presenting to all levels within a business including C-level management.

•        Must be able to communicate effectively in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports.

•        Organized, persuasive and analytical, the ideal candidate must be able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.

•        A solid understanding of the competitive landscape is essential. Experience and familiarity with new and emerging telecommunications technology, including but not limited to fiber optics,

•        Ethernet, virtual PBX, with a strong desire to continuously learn new skills and technologies quickly.
