Parmatech Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ATW Companies based in Petaluma, CA, is a leading supplier of complex custom manufactured metal components to demanding markets (medical, industrial, defense, aerospace, etc.)  Parmatech deploys established and emerging technologies such as Metal Injection Molding (MIM), micro-machining, and 3D Printed Metal (3DPM) to deliver consistent high quality product.  Parmatech is a pioneer in MIM, developing, patenting, and licensing the technology in the early 1970’s to help kick start a market that is now over $2.5 Billion.  MIM is a low cost, high volume manufacturing process producing parts to near net shape, reducing or eliminating the need for secondary and machining operations. 3DPM is cutting edge technology that can deliver concept to prototype in 2 weeks and deliver complex shapes not possible with machining, casting or molding. Parmatech has recently announced a partnership with HP in launching the HP Metal Jet 3D printing system with the goal of continuing Parmatech’s pioneering spirit of developing cutting edge metal fabrication technologies.  Parmatech has over forty-five years of operational experience on the world stage of metals fabrication, and in serving the Northern California community. The primary responsibility of the Automation Engineer is developing, implementing, and sustaining the use of cutting edge technologies and processes to achieve and support a near lights-out manufacturing environment.  This person is the automation Process Owner which includes responsibility for equipment and process FMEAs (with a safety focus), SPC development and monitoring, as well as assisting with the development of the 5-year plan for equipment, process and technology. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:  

•        Identify Parmatech processes that would benefit from automation

•        Work with vendors to source equipment and components for use in automation projects that can be replicated and scaled to keep pace with company growth expectations

•        Analyze the requirements of production processes and ensure that automated solutions adhere to these requirements quality, safety, and cycle time

•        Performing Installation Qualifications IQ, Operational Qualifications OQ, and Performance Qualifications of equipment and processes

•        Documentation of equipment such as BOMs, equipment procedures, and calibration and maintenance schedules

•        Stay up to date with the latest automation technologies and apply them as required

•        Training of manufacturing staff on the use of automation equipment

•        Execute existing test protocols and update documents as required

•        Design and engineer Parmatech's business-critical molding machine product line solutions, including supporting equipment, in Solidworks and together with 3rd party equipment systems integrators as appropriate.

•        Drive automation solutions that reduce cost, improve capacity and quality and have a strong return on investment.

•        Monitor and manage development schedules to intercept with new products or key automation initiatives.

•        Write machine specifications; collaborate closely with the team that designs, tests, and manufactures our products.

•        Work closely with Product Engineering and Operations to understand the needs of the customer and design cost-effective solutions that fulfill those needs.

•        Develop architectural and systems specifications and manage 3rd party manufacturing partners to develop modules and integrate custom and off the shelf systems into a final solution that meets Parmatech's business goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•       Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechatronics, related fields, or equivalent work experience

•        Minimum 3+ years’ experience in Automation and Machine Design, preferably having deployed equipment to high volume production environments.

•        Hands-on and willing to get involved in the details.

•        Excellent communicator, verbal and written, with fluency in English.

•        Working knowledge of core automation technologies (PLC and PC-based controls, multi-axis precision motion control, material handling solutions, robotics [SCARA / 6 AXIS], pneumatics and factory data systems).

•        Knowledge of statistical tools or methodologies to quantify/FA (SPC/DoE) and qualify (GR&R and CP/CPk) automated manufacturing processes.

•        Experience with industry standard device to device communication protocols.

•        Proficiency in the use of Solidworks

•        Must have interpersonal skills appropriate for interacting with engineers, manufacturing personnel, and outside vendors

•        Ability to read and understand electrical schematics

•        Ability to write software to interface with electromechanical systems and databases

•        Experience in performing Installation Qualifications IQ, Operational Qualifications OQ, and Performance Qualifications PQ is desired
