Job Description

The Machine Operators tend to a variety of machines that cut and shape tubes.  Responsibilities may change daily, but each employee is responsible for understanding the area which they are assigned to.

Candidate would have a background in machine operation, manufacturing and measuring equipment such as micrometer, caliper or vision system.

• Learn basics of running a laser, utilize measuring equipment and documentation.


  • Reads job descriptions and/or traveler to determine procedure, lubrication and material requirements.
  • Inserts components into holding fixture of laser machine and presses console buttons to activate laser beam that automatically cuts material from component.
  • Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Removes cut component from holding fixture and examines component for defects and completeness of cut.
  •  Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  •  Fill out and/or maintain production forms and charts.
  •  Stack, mark, pack and transport finished or unfinished workpieces.
  •  Perform secondary operations as required by specific component procedure sheet.
  •  As part of the general labor pool, employees who primarily work in this area may be subject to work in other jobs. • Other duties may be assigned.

• Should have a background in machine operation or technical school training, however on-the-job training is available for qualified individuals.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. In some cases, trigonometry may be required. READING SKILLS: Ability to read, write and comprehend written materials.

Ability to apply 'common sense' understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must maintain hand-eye coordination sufficient to handle small instruments and read precision tools.
