Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure the timely and accurate shipping of orders in accordance with
each customer’s specific routing guide requirements. Submit routing requests and loads for
carrier pick-up. Organize and schedule inbound truck appointments. Store and retrieve time-sensitive freight. Continually review customer routing guides and suggest updates to company
Secondary Responsibilities: 
Receive inbound freight, assisting in all aspects of this function.
Maintain shipping and receiving non-inventoried supplies, distributing them as needs be. Backup the Master Pack Specialist in fulfilling design department shipping and supply requirements.
Description of Duties:
1. Update and maintain current routing guides, website address and log-is for all
2. Assign shipping instructions, create shipping labels and BoLs, and run nightly common
carrier manifests using the Varsity Shipping software.
3. Prioritize daily shipments so all orders get shipped as early as possible within the
allowable ship window.
4. Submit routing request to customer’s logistics department via e-mail or data entry into a
designated web site.
5. Operate the U.S. Postal Service mailing machine.
6. Load freight carriers and operate an electric pallet jack as needed.
7. Assist Product Development and Sales with shipping of samples and display
presentations. Select carriers and level of service that meets the shipper’s needs and
presents the least costs to the client.
8. Create documents for international shipments – understand the import and export duty,
tariff and customs requirements for our major foreign markets and comply with those
9. Communicate tracking information to all departments as requested.
10. Make certain the Shipping area is clean and safe on a daily basis.
a. Comply with C-TPAT guidelines when dealing with inbound and outbound freight
and access control.
11. The position requires standing and lifting up to 50 lbs.
12. Some overtime may be required.

Job Requirements

Expert-level understanding of common carrier, LTL/TL load scheduling, and US Postal guidelines is required. The ability to work independently on many projects at once and retain complex logistical requirements with a focus on customer deadlines is a necessity. Familiarity with JD Edwards and Varsity preferred. Fluency in English required some Spanish is desirable.
