Business Intelligence Manager - Tableau Expert


Herndon, VA (Washington DC Area)



Job purpose 

This position on the Corporate FP&A team will play an instrumental role in the company-wide initiative to expand the business intelligence platform. He/she will be the go-to resource for all Tableau development and administrative responsibilities. This position will engage with the company’s operational and functional leaders to understand their needs, and then implement the appropriate business intelligence tools to improve the company’s performance.

Duties and responsibilities 

Tableau Developer

  •  Manage the company-wide rollout of the Tableau analytical tool
  •  Serve as the company’s go-to resource for all Tableau dashboard and report development
  •  Collaborate with the company’s operational and functional leaders to improve the quality of existing dashboards and develop new tools and analytics to drive continuous operational improvement 

Tableau Administrator

  •  Perform all administrative responsibilities required to support the Tableau tool; tasks will include establishing the appropriate levels of security, maintaining data integrity & controls, providing user training & support, designing the tool’s structure, managing the back-end hardware requirements, etc.
  •  Serve as the liaison between the Finance and IT functions to ensure the appropriate level of software & hardware support is in place for Tableau to function accurately and efficiently
  •  Develop a strong understanding of the company’s current systems (i.e. Mincron, Cognos, Salesforce, etc.) and data flow in order to enhance underlying data sources feeding into Tableau  


  •  Provide recommendations on ways to enhance the Tableau user experience and improve its overall system performance
  •  Participate with the assessment, implementation, testing, and rollout of all future finance-related software solutions
  •  Assist with various financial reporting requests on an ad-hoc basis   


Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from a 4-year university
  • 2+ years of experience developing in Tableau; Tableau certification is preferable
  • Solid understanding of Tableau and the types of data and coding required to develop dashboards & reports
  • Strong knowledge of the technical requirements needed to properly support Tableau in a large organization
  • Financial analysis experience is required
  • Ability to be a collaborate business partner and cultivate strong cross-functional relationships
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects across a large organizational structure
  • Strong critical thinking skills with experience in anticipating management’s potential questions and next steps
  • Proactive self-starter and independent worker
  • Up to 10% travel may be required
