Job Description

Become a part of our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Bilingual Recovery Coach in the Peer Support Services program at Behavioral Health Network! Recovery Coaches work with adults with substance use disorders in the Springfield, MA area and are passionate about helping others and having a positive impact in the community.  

  • A bilingual recovery coach (Spanish/English) has lived experience with substance use disorder: either as a person currently in recovery (minimum 2 years) or as an ally of family members and close friends who have struggled with substance use disorders.
  • A bilingual recovery coach is able to communicate in Spanish to a person who speaks some or no English at all. 
  • Applicants with prior Recovery Coach Academy training are preferred.  BHN will also send new hires to a 40 hour Recovery Coach Academy training.

This bilingual recovery coach position will be assigned to a Medication Assisted Treatment program at a Springfield-based community health center. The bilingual recovery coach will:

  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team that includes nurses, doctors, behavioral health specialists, case managers, medical assistants and administrative staff
  • Document recoveree progress daily in 2 separate electronic medical records
  • Work onsite at the health center 3 days per week and 2 days off-site in the community visiting recoverees
  • Receive weekly supervision

A drug test and medical clearance is required at the time a job offer is made

In the Peer Support Services program, Recovery Coaches connect directly with individuals within the community to inspire hope and increase peoples’ chances for success in their own recovery. We help the individuals we serve find their own unique paths to recovery and the achieving of personal goals and dreams.

Prior Employment Verification: confirms applicant's employment with the listed companies, including dates of employment, position held and additional information available pertaining to performance rating, reason for departure and eligibility for rehire.

Personal and Professional References: calls will be placed to individuals listed as references by the applicant.

Educational Verification: confirms the applicant's claimed educational institution, including the years attended and the degree/diploma received.

Criminal History: includes review of criminal convictions and probation.

The following additional background searches will be required if applicable to the position:

   

Motor Vehicle Records: provides a report on an individual's driving history in the state requested. This search will be run when driving is an essential requirement of the position.

Substance Abuse Testing: positions embedded with these specific healthcare organizations are subject to a pre-employment substance abuse test, which includes the testing for the consumption of THC (Marijuana)

Job Requirements

Recovery Coaches at Behavioral Health Network have the following qualities:

  • Prior completion of the Recovery Coach Academy (preferred, however training can be provided)
  • 2 years experience working with individuals in recovery from substance use disorders (strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with substance use recovery support services.
  • Professional demeanor in communicating with members and care team members.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (required).
