Job Description

Become a part of our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Bilingual Recovery Coach in the Peer Support Services program at Behavioral Health Network!

Bilingual Recovery Coaches work with adults with substance use disorders in the Springfield, MA area and are passionate about helping others and having a positive impact in the community. Recovery Coaches could be assigned to a Medication Assisted or other types of treatment programs, an emergency department, the general community, or community centers supported by local police departments. They are members of an interdisciplinary team that could include nurses, doctors, behavioral health specialists, case managers, medical assistants, administrative staff, drug court staff, and/or police officers. Bilingual Recovery Coaches document individuals’ progress in the electronic medical record and transport individuals serviced to support services as needed. Finally, Bilingual Recovery Coaches receive individual and group supervision on a weekly basis.

In the Peer Support Services program, Recovery Coaches connect directly with individuals within the community to inspire hope and increase peoples’ chances for success in their own recovery. We help the individuals we serve find their own unique paths to recovery and to achieve their personal goals and dreams.

Background checks will include:


Prior Employment Verification: confirms applicant's employment with the listed companies, including dates of employment, position held and additional information available pertaining to performance rating, reason for departure and eligibility for rehire.

Personal and Professional References: calls will be placed to individuals listed as references by the applicant.

Educational Verification: confirms the applicant's claimed educational institution, including the years attended and the degree/diploma received.

Criminal History: includes review of criminal convictions and probation.

The following additional background searches will be required if applicable to the position:


Motor Vehicle Records: provides a report on an individual's driving history in the state requested. This search will be run when driving is an essential requirement of the position.

Substance Abuse Testing: positions embedded with these specific healthcare organizations are subject to a pre-employment substance abuse test, which includes the testing for the consumption of THC (Marijuana)



Job Requirements

Bilingual Recovery Coaches at Behavioral Health Network have the following qualities:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (required).
  • Enrollment in or completion of a CADAC program (preferred).
  • Prior completion of the Recovery Coach Academy (strongly preferred). BHN will also send new hires to Recovery Coach Academy training.
  • Lived experience with substance use disorder, either as a person currently in recovery (minimum 2 years required) or as an ally of family members and close friends who have struggled with substance use disorders.
  • 2 years’ experience working with individuals in recovery from substance use disorders (strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with substance use recovery support services (required).
  • Professional demeanor in communicating with members and care team members.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable car for work purposes (required).
