Occupational Therapist (OT) will conduct assessments of youth/family, consult to the Intensive Home-Based Therapeutic Care team and/or families and provide treatment, as needed. Providers have the flexibility to hire a combination of OT and an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA).

Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the program with the following:

  • Demonstrates ability to provide community-based service.
  • Providing high quality Occupational Therapy to youth.
  • Consulting with IHBTC Care Teams and interacts with families and area providers as needed.
  • Participating in required supervision and training.
  • Demonstrating knowledge and application of child development.
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of individuals served current situation.
  • Reviews OT enrollment screening tool and makes recommendations for further OT evaluations or appropriate interventions.
  • Maintaining open lines of communication toward comprehensive and effective treatment.
  • Instructing school staff to provide therapeutic techniques within the care plan if required.
  • Organizing and developing activities that aim to help individuals served, and their caregivers, communicate and control various situations in their environments.
  • Demonstrating use of equipment and physical exercise that will help the individuals served improve and master daily tasks and instruct caregivers in appropriate use.
  • Recommending adaptations in environment and participation in programs that will help the individual’s served master independent living.

What are we looking for in an Occupational Therapist?

Qualifications/ Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must have broad knowledge of mental illness and/or intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, medical conditions, and/or treatment techniques.
  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Health Professions required.
  • Demonstrated interest in Pediatrics through internships and prior work history.
  • Must be committed to providing long-term assistance.
  • Must be well organized with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to adapt to a variety of settings and provide activities to the individual accordingly.
  • Must have familiarity with internet, word processing and email systems.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable car available for working hours.
