Behavioral Health Network (BHN) is a growing non-profit community behavioral health agency that provides services to children, adults & families. The Performance & Engagement Director will support the development of a full cycle performance management process and the execution and management of the organizational engagement survey and listening strategies that incorporates touchpoints through surveys, engagement, onboarding, exit and ad-hoc pulses at key milestones in the employee lifecycle.

This Director will develop efficient practices, strategies, and systems for collecting performance data that maximize employee performance, engagement, retention, and succession planning and talent assessments. This role will also define and track engagement metrics that support the performance of the organization and ensure that critical roles are defined.

This Director has experience and knowledge in survey measurement and design, HR analytics, people science, and engagement. This individual has an attention for detail coupled with savvy consulting and project management skills and will draw insights from survey results that can be shared with business leaders. They will consult on survey best practices and will own the ongoing day-to-day support for Human Resource Business Partners and leaders. This role will be very detailed and data oriented and requires the manipulation of large volumes of data.

What will I do day-to- day?

  • Oversee the Performance and Engagement Specialist with performance feedback and coaching to ensure reporting and trends are pushed out at various levels and the system is updated and ready. Oversee the Career Pathways Program.

  • Lead action planning sessions for the entire organization following each survey, focusing on results and culture change.

  • Partner with internal communications, follow communication cadence leading up to survey openings that reinforce changes; continues with reminders and thank you’s following surveys.

Performance Management

  • Creates and oversees the implementation of procedures that support and enhance employee performance to support the organization’s objectives.
  • Drafts research-based performance efficiency reports, presents them to senior leadership, and suggests performance management changes as necessary.
  • Explains to employees the methodology of current or upcoming performance practices thoroughly and professionally and follows up with them to ensure organization-wide understanding.

Employee Engagement

  • Leads the development and execution of employee engagement programs and fosters the company’s culture ensuring all initiatives/activities are promoted and delivered.
  • Fosters a culture of employee engagement and recognition through initiatives promoting satisfaction, well-being, and a sense of belonging.
  • Conducts employee surveys, communicates findings to leadership, and recommends/drives progress on improvements.
  • Oversees the team developing performance metrics and frameworks, provides coaching on delivering constructive feedback, and strengthens the relationship between pay and performance.
  • Engages in strategic thinking and planning, analyzes complex situations, and creates buy-in for a path forward.

Employee Development

  • Identifies, designs, and develops frameworks that represent skills and leadership capabilities critical to long-term and short-term objectives.
  • Aligns training, coaching, professional development, and experiential assignments to the leadership development strategy.
  • Develops approaches to engage staff in well-defined and ongoing career development.
  • Defines career paths and supports training and development programs.

Position qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field plus 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Organizational Development, or similar field required; OR an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in talent development, organizational development, or a related field, with a demonstrated focus on driving performance management and / or employee engagement strategies, processes, and programs.
  • Background in employee engagement survey administration required.
  • Strong project management skills, managing multiple initiatives and priorities simultaneously is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with engaging platform skills, executive presence and the ability to flex messaging across the entire organization aligning internal and external stakeholders.
  • Transformation-oriented leader; demonstrates the perseverance and open-mindedness to lead and drive change.
  • Partnership orientation that fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders through open communication to identify opportunities, gain alignment, and develop a shared understanding of success criteria to achieve current and future business goals.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, using data to drive talent management decisions.
  • Strong ethics and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
