Carrols Restaurant Group, Inc., a growing company located in Syracuse, NY, and one of the largest restaurant companies in the U.S., has an excellent opportunity for a Sr Finance & Budget Analyst.

This position reports to the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, and interacts with financial management, operations, corporate accounting and various levels of corporate and executive management. This position also supports the overall corporate forecast and budgeting process in a Rolling 18 month format; helps organize and oversee the collection of budget data; maintains budget system and database; specifically responsible for ongoing forecast/budgeting of Net Sales among various other expense lines. The candidate will be responsible for financial analysis, review of actual financial data and special projects under the direction of the Manager. The analyst will also be involved in the preparation of both internal and external presentations for management, investors and the Board of Directors.

The following is a summary of the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to be successful in this position.

  • Coordinates the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts and budgets including Operations and Administrative Costs Centers Income Statements, along with Company Cash flows and Balance Sheet.
  • Manages a planning calendar to ensure timely preparation of financial forecasts for senior management.
  • Financial statement analysis, review and comparison of historical financial information to budget and forecasts. Interact with management to review performance, explain and control variances.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting of newly acquired restaurants.
  • Assist in the preparation of Profit Plan presentations to senior management and the Board.
  • Analyze income statement trends and variances, and other operational data and statistics to identify issues and profitability opportunities and to propose courses of action.
  • Maintain budget database and software. Interact with outside consultants including testing and implementation of recurring software upgrades and enhancements.
  • Perform other ad hoc research and special projects as directed.

Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required. MBA or CPA is desired. 2 to 5 years relevant experience with financial analysis and/or financial planning. Must be knowledgeable and confident with financial modeling. High level of maturity required with the ability to appropriately deal with highly confidential or sensitive matters. Self-starter, capable of working with little supervision, who has strong problem solving abilities and proven analytical skills. Must possess an aptitude for leveraging and maintaining budget software. Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact and communicate effectively across departments within all levels of the organization. High degree of proficiency with PC applications including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word as well as forecasting and planning software. Experience with PeopleSoft a plus.
