Job Description

ChildCareGroup is currently hiring for a new position Community Outreach and Engagement Specialist in our Early Childhood Program. The Community Outreach and Engagement Specialist serves in a critical support role to the CCG Early Childhood Programs, including center-based, school-based, and home-based programs. The position is responsible for working with community partners to recruit eligible children and families, identify and execute volunteer in-kind opportunities, and to engage service providers for deeper engagement with CCG programs. The position works under the supervision of the VP of Early Childhood Programs with some demand for independent judgment. The position will collaborate across a number of departments, including Early Childhood Programs, Finance, Child Care Assistance, Community Outreach and Development.
  • Recruitment and Enrollment of Children and Families:
    • Responsible for enrolling eligible families in the EHS After-care program. Duties include assisting parents with eligibility requirements (filling out forms, gathering information, etc.), tracking enrollment challenges and successes and serving as a liason between families, childcare centers and the Child Care Assistance program.
    • Assists family advocates with identifying and recruiting eligible families by connecting with community partners, such as social service agencies and community –based resources.
    • Responsible for enrolling prenatal mothers for the EHS Prenatal program and connecting them with family advocates.

  • Community Engagement:
    • Works to identify and engage community organizations to provide on-site services to parents and children to enhance the CCG two-generational model of serving children and families. (i.e. EITC prep, SNAP outreach, Parkland Plus services, ResCare job services, etc.)
    • Works to identify community partners for regular Community Resource Fairs, parent meeting presentations and other opportunities for community engagement.
    • Works in partnership with CCG Volunteer Coordinator to engage community volunteers for opportunities to increase in-kind donations of time and supplies.

  • Data Collection and Reporting: Is responsible for timely collection and management of a variety of Early Childhood Program (ECP) data which supports community outreach and engagement.
    • Is responsible for maintaining information on all EHS children enrolled in after-care program and working with parents to enroll in CCA program.
    • Is responsible for maintaining accurate records of all EHS in-kind activity and submitting timely reports.
    • Is responsible for maintaining enrollment records and reporting monthly statistics to the Office of Head Start and internal staff.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in social work, family studies, or related field required. Appropriate experience may be substituted for specific degree at the discretion of the VP of Early Childhood Programs.
Minimum of two (2) years working in a social service agency preferred.
Must demonstrate ability to communicate and connect with a variety of stakeholders -- parents, staff and community partners.
Must demonstrate strong computer skills and expertise in working with databases. Experience with ChildPlus database, preferred.
Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills as well as good communication and written skills; must be flexible and able to enjoy a varied workload.
Must demonstrate leadership ability and the ability to function as a team member
Prompt and regular attendance required.

Position serves multiple early childhood centers. Must have reliable transportation; valid Texas driver’s license, proof of liability insurance and driving record acceptable to CCG’s automobile liability insurance carrier. ChildCareGroup reimburses for mileage expenses.
Work requires normal physical effort, visual attention, manual dexterity or coordination. Any lifting restricted to items weighing less than 25 pounds
