Job Description

The Clinical Director will report to the Executive Director and is responsible for the management and quality assurance of all clinical services provided by Chilton Shelby Mental Health, including the training of all clinical staff. The Clinical Director works closely with the Executive Director relating to the program and the clinical services provided. The Clinical Director is also part of the Senior Management Team, which supports compliance with all delivery of services to the fiscal, ethical and legal standards upheld by the state of Alabama and the core values and mission of Chilton Shelby Mental Health


Clinical supervision of the Mental Illness, Substance Abuse and Intellectual Disabilities Divisions.

  • Monitors clinical programs of treatment and referrals.
  • Conducts review of client files to assure quality of care.
  • Review of treatment plans.
  • Coordinates and participates in clinical staffing and case consultations.
  • Ensures treatment adheres to established policies, procedures and standards of care
  • Provides direct supervision of Division Directors and Group Home Managers.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of all clinical staff training.

Responsible for coordination and implementation of Clinical Policies and Procedures. Responsible for coordination and implementation of the agency's Performance Improvement.

  • Follow up on administrative and clinical reviews.
  • Works with the business office to assure timely and appropriate data reporting and compliance with contracts and budget preparation for each division.
  • Review and implementation of grants.

Compiles statistical data.

  • Compiles data reports for programs and by clinician for Mental Illness, Substance Abuse, and Intellectual Disabilities Division.
  • Compiles monthly clinical data report for Mental Illness and Substance Abuse Divisions.
  • Compiles yearly statistical information regarding client demographics and utilization of services.
  • Compiles other statistical and revenue reports as requested by the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director to include:

  • Promotes and maintains good relationships and communication between departments
  • Responsible for daily operation of Mental Heath Center in the absence of the Executive Director.
  • Motivate and lead a high performance management team; attract, recruit and retain required members of the executive team not currently in place; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of our organization.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.
  • Act as lead 'client-care officer' through direct contact with every client and partner.
  • Provide direct clinical services as needed according to Center guidelines.
  • Involvement in Consultation and Education activities.
  • Attendance at Clinical Directors Group.
  • Attendance at Board of Directors meetings as scheduled/requested.
  • Coordinate HIPAA for the agency and serve as the HIPAA privacy officer.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Requires a Masters Degree in a Social Science field and a minimum of five years experience in applied Clinical work, progressive managerial experience and current professional licensure.
