Mechanical Engineer - Vehicle Auxiliary Systems
Location: York, PA 17408
Duration: 2 years
US Citizenship is required.
Have you worked on Vehicle Auxiliary Systems before? Combat/Recovery vehicles in particular? Maybe the M88? Something similar?
Are you ready for some serious, comprehensive responsibility?
Look at the systems and subsystems that you'll be handling:
  • Operator Controls
  • Fuel Delivery (Engine / APU / Heater)
  • Special Equipment
  • Stowage
  • Automatic Fire Extinguishing System (AFES)
  • Recovery Equipment (Winches, Boom, Spade)
  • Hydraulic subsystems
You've worked on all (or maybe most) of these things previously, right?
We are dedicated to modernizing the overall vehicle and it's capabilities, and we need your help in bringing your expertise to our efforts.
Here's what you bring to the party, ready to go on Day-1, based on your experience and background...
  • US Citizen
  • Minimum 4 years relevant work experience
  • Complete understanding of and ability to apply engineering principles, concepts, practices and standards.
  • Excellent customer relationship and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. May consider closely related degrees.

Including the ability to:
  • Analyze requirements, design hardware, and select appropriate hardware, components & materials
  • Review drawings, and associated Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  • Perform development work to the assigned budgets and project schedules in an integrated product team environment.
  • Prepare and revise part procurement specifications for definition and control purposes to facilitate part/material acquisition.
  • Support supplier management and material procurement activities
  • Lead small design teams (2-5 people)
  • Manage the Operator Controls and in-vehicle mounting (Driver, Mechanic, and Commander) including changes to braking, steering, shifting, throttle, suspension controls, AFES, digital displays, electronic control interface
  • Develop the Design and Stowage of special equipment: deep water fording kit, Maintenance Tools, etc.
  • Assessment / Adjustment / Modification of Recovery Equipment (winches, spade, boom)
  • Develop, Design and Test modified Automatic Fire Extinguishing System (AFES)
  • Develop Fuel and Hydraulic Upgrades / Delivery (Suspension / Powertrain / Recovery)

  • Experienced or familiar with working within the defense industry.
  • Communication and/or leadership training.
