Electrical Engineer - Lowest Replaceable Units LRUs - Combat Vehicles
Location: Sterling Heights, MI 48312
Duration: 6 months contract, then potential Direct Hire
You MUST be a US Citizen.
Your electrical engineering expertise, particularly with military combat vehicles, is outstanding. You know LRUs, and how to design, develop, integrate, test, deploy and support them.
You're ready to have your skills make a difference in our national defense efforts. Our combat vehicles are already outstanding, and we're making them even more capable and modern. We need your help to do this.
Your main responsibility will be ensuring vehicle electronic Lowest Replaceable Units (LRUs) are successfully designed, evaluated and manufactured to satisfy requirements and interfaces within harsh military environments.
Some of the things you'll be doing...
  • Defining requirements including derived requirements, interfaces and environments for the electrical LRUs.
  • Leading the detailed design and project technical reviews of the electrical LRUs
  • Leading the qualification and environmental stress testing of electrical LRUs to ensure performance and reliability
  • Demonstrating compliance with contractual requirements
  • Ensuring complex electronic hardware LRUs are successfully evaluated using various analytical and test techniques
  • Working directly with our integrated product team (IPT), suppliers, subcontractors and the Customer in scheduling and program management
  • Participating in component LRU design reviews to improve the designs and provide lessons learned
  • Presenting to the customer during Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and on status of test activities
  • Maintaining the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from powerful influences

Day One... you'll need to be instantly productive, and to accomplish that, you'll need to have in your background...

  • US Citizen
  • 4 years experience with vehicle electrical engineering
  • Experience designing, integrating, and troubleshooting Military Electrical Lowest Replaceable Units (LRUs)
  • Working knowledge of CANbus and SAE J1939 protocols
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers to solve complex technical problems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical results to coworkers and customers, both verbally and through written materials
  • Ability to access and move about a military vehicle during integration and test activities.
  • Ready and able to travel approximately 25%
  • Bachelor degree in a relevant technical discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Working knowledge of Vector CANbus tools such As CANoe, CANalyzer, etc.
  • Familiarity with Army Vehicle environments and electrical architecture
  • Experience working with electrical/electronic systems of military ground vehicles.
  • Experience directing less senior engineering personnel and technical subcontractors
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, communications, GUI Displays and computing problems
  • Experience using lab test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, network analyzers, CANbus analyzers, data acquisition) for test and verification
  • Ability to create system/component requirement specifications and the process to verify specifications.
