Opportunity:  Engineering / Svc’s Technician / Lewis-McChord, WA / Secret Clearance Required
The selected candidate will apply knowledge and experience to provide field service engineering support for a variety of Audio Visual (AV) / Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems. These AV / VTC systems are located at various customer sites throughout the United States, as well as at several overseas locations.
Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Provide remote and on-site AV/VTC system level technical support to investigate and correct system operation and performance issues.
  • Diagnose and differentiate between network, hardware, software, and control code issues.
  • Manage a small inventory of IT/AV related spare equipment and installation materials.
  • Support integration and installation of new AV/VTC systems based on design drawings.
  • Train users on AV/VTC system operation.
  • Perform room surveys to capture detailed AV/VTC design requirements and identify room modifications required to support a given AV/VTC system.
  • Review and analyze system requirements, specifications, and related documentation.
  • Perform all services and tasks in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Other related duties as assigned. Occasional travel will be required to various military installations and other user sites.
  • The home work site location is Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
  • Applicants must be willing to relocate to the Joint Base Lewis-McChord area.
Relevant hands on technical experience with AV/VTC system installation, testing, operation and technical support with the following:
  • VTC codec configuration and operation (Cisco or Tandberg).
  • AV control system setup and troubleshooting (Crestron or AMX).
  • Digital signal processor programming and troubleshooting including complete knowledge of correct AEC setup (Biamp, ClearOne).
  • Video displays and video wall setup and configuration (Planar clarity matrix, Planar VCS, NEC).
  • Network switch configuration and static IP address assignments. •Ability to load control code and firmware (Crestron/Toolbox, Extron/Toolbelt, AMX/NetLinx)
  • Fiber optic and CatX cable installation and testing.
  • Ability to read and understand AV design drawings and technical manuals.
  • Ability to work independently or with team to diligently accomplish both routine and high priority tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Ability/willingness to travel.
  • Active security clearance and ability to maintain. CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D certification Crestron DM certification Crestron, AMX, or Extron programming certifications AV/VTC system site survey and design experience Network+ and Security+ certifications
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of specialized experience OR Associate degree and 4 years of specialized experience OR High School diploma and at least 6 years of specialized experience.
