Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)
Washington, D.C.
4 Month Contract

LOOKING FOR A SHORT TERM ASSIGNMENT?
  • You will be addressing agency-wide IT security issues and challenging new threats on a daily basis that could impact the integrity of information systems that support customer’s missions.
  • Evaluating, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks and demonstrate adequate security are key values provided by you.
  • Agency-wide IT security program is dependent on the availability of highly trained and experienced senior computer security analyst and technical engineers and that fully understand technologies
    that include but are not limited to hardware, security appliances, mobile devices and platforms, applications, networking and associated architecture, cloud technologies and software.


    Demonstrated expertise in some of the following skills:
  • Leading an ATO effort for an existing and a new DHS system.
  • Supporting an ongoing authorization for existing systems, Intrusion Detection & Incident Response, Vulnerability Assessment, Intrusion Detection Systems Support, RSA SecureID and PIV and/or
    Common Access Card (CAC), Secure and Monitor Critical Applications and network assets, Remote Access Support VPN and redundant trusted internet RTIC, Penetration testing, maintenance, training and Vendor
    product upgrades
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Must have familiarity with Federal, DHS, and industry information security requirements, standards, and best practices working knowledge of incident response, network architectures, current networking technologies, security
    requirements and features of networks and applications, and other security issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Security Scanning and Monitoring.
  • Review monthly continuous monitoring reports submitted to the Vulnerability Management Group and be to collaborate with System Engineer if needed.
  • Conduct routine vulnerability scans to ensure system is performing properly.
  • Perform daily Information Security Vulnerability Monitoring alerts (all must be researched & respond as to if they are applicable to the different software/services/platforms…etc. that exist in the system accreditation boundary).
  • Security Maintenance
  • Maintain system security (certification and accreditation and authority to operate).
  • Approve/Disapprove the security portion of change requests for all system changes prior to ICCB approval.
  • Know how to create and maintain Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms).
  • Ensure all audit artifacts are current for yearly A-123 Assessments and OCFO Financial Consolidated Audits.
  • Approve PAR and RAR requests for system users.
  • Create risk acceptance and waiver requests and submit for approval to OCIO.
  • Monthly account audits are created to ensure current documentation is available for yearly A-123 Assessments and OCFO Consolidated Audits.
  • Ensure OCFO systems maintain a passing score in the XACTA system.
  • Be able to manage Ad hoc requests and notifications.
  • Create and maintain system security documentation to include FIPS 199, System Security Plan, Contingency Plan, Security Control Assessment, etc.
Certification in technologies such as McAfee Suite SIEM, EPO, Antivirus is Preferred
Working towards one of the following CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional GCIA – GIAC Certified Intrusion
 
Experience Required:
Expertise in DHS Sensitive Systems Policy Directive 4300A.
Need 5-15+ years of total experience.
Bachelor's Degree Education Preferred Master's Degree
