Job Description

Senior Accountant - Project Setup Analyst
Location: Phoenix, AZ 85044
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire (initially as W-2 Contractor)
Duration: 8-10 months (then possibly direct hire)
Pay Rate: $32.75/hour - $39.95/hour
US Citizenship is required.
You will be a W-2 contract employee and work on-site at the client's location in Phoenix, AZ.
Depending on your performance, and after the completion of your contract, you may be selected to become a direct employee of our client.
You will work a 9/80 schedule... which means you'll have alternate Fridays off.

We need a professional Senior Accountant who is an expert with setting up and maintaining projects, from a financial and accounting perspective, along with coordinating and reporting the progress of each project.
Our projects are mostly Department of Defense contracts. If you have accounting experience in the defense industry, and a good working knowledge of FAR and DFARS, you'll have an impact immediately.
We need someone who can "come up to speed" immediately, from your first day of work.
Here are some of the primary things you will do:
  • Be the Lead Person for Accounts Receivable, especially with all details for project "setups" in Oracle ERP and Excel spreadsheets
  • Monitor project setup communications (email, forms, phone calls) and process the required actions swiftly
  • Review and validate newly awarded contracts and contract modifications
  • Coordinate and resolve project specifics, concerns, and exceptions with Project Financial Analyst or Government Compliance Department
  • Create and maintain individual funding agreements in Oracle ERP system
  • Setup for billing on each funded project
  • Review, analyze, request, and coordinate approvals for shipping requests
  • Review and analyze credit requests of commercial customers
  • Perform Fixed Assets inventory cycle counts occasionally

You need to be a Real Likable Human who will:
  • Make independent, sound judgment choices, with qualified discretion
  • Express yourself well when writing or talking
  • Treat your co-workers and customers professionally and with courtesy
  • Plan well, and use your time wisely
  • Create detailed reports and documents using standard computer software
  • Comply with all company and government policies, procedures, standards, laws and regulations
  • Deliver your research and analysis findings in formal presentations
  • Follow general and cost accounting principles, and auditing principles
The Bottom Line:
You need to be a "quick and deep thinker" who can analyze both financial and non-financial information, and then make recommendations and take action on how to best use your research results. The is moderately tame and reasonable work... you'll work on problems of limited scope.
In everything you do, you must follow standard practices and procedures, so that your results and recommendations are repeatable, and easily understood by everyone involved.
You need to be comfortable and immediately productive with ERP (Oracle is preferred), Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
If you've worked on projects in the Defense industry, you'll be steps ahead, especially if you have FARS and DFARS experience.
And, you've been doing these things for at least 4 years.
Maybe most important of all, you need to always work well and communicate well with your co-workers and with customers. Clear communication, respect, courtesy, and politeness are critical.
If this seems like it's "your calling"... Let's connect!
