Opportunity:  Surface Ship Systems Infrastructure Network Engineer / DOD – Aerospace / (Pittsfield, MA)

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire or processing to being immediately upon acceptance. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
 
Our client has an immediate opening for a Surface Ship Systems Infrastructure Network Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  Our clients employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
 
The Infrastructure Network Engineer will analyze, design, develop and test systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. This particular position requires a candidate with a willingness to take on a broad range of tasks, including network design/administration, device hardware selection/integration, and troubleshooting of networks and video distribution systems. 
 
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Participates in requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of system elements direct supervision
Researches and analyzes data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE/BFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
Develops and evaluates systems, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications
May provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features (e.g., identification, authentication, access control, labeling, and auditing) of the system are considered and function properly
May develop system security documentation on both new and fielded information systems
Plans sub tasks for activities described above
Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses
Receives instructions from immediate supervisor
Contact with multiple work groups
Works under general supervision
Contact with Deputy Program Managers Engineering (DPME) and other professionals within the Engineering department
May have some contact outside Engineering or with external customers
Travel may be required
Security clearance may be required
Provides resolution to problems of moderate scope
Keeps abreast of technology trend

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Familiarity with technical standards
Considerable knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
Considerable awareness of business objective and Engineering role in achieving
Considerable knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools
Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and able to handle more complex assignments
Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
Considerable proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Considerable written and verbal communications skills
Creative thinker
Ability to multi-task
Builds productive internal/external working relationships
Considerably skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
Ability to clearly recognize and report relevant to sound systems engineering design

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:
The Surface Ship Systems Infrastructure Network Engineer position requires a Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline or the equivalent
 
High level familiarity with software development lifecycle and experience interfacing with software developers
High level familiarity with other shipboard systems such as Seaframe Control, Aviation, Infrastructure, etc.
