Job Title: CMA or LPN - Clinic
Location: Greater Dayton Cancer Center - Kettering / Miami Valley Hospital South - Centerville
Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant provides direct patient care, assists physician and practitioners with patient care, administrative, environmental and organizational tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Greets patients and assists with patient flow;
  • Administers medications, performs procedures directed by physician and practitioners
  • Assists with preparatory activities such as taking and documenting vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height and weight, and communicates abnormalities to physician or practitioner;
  • Reviews and documents patient medical history including medications, allergies, and medical alerts, documents in the electronic medical record;
  • Contact patients with lab and test results and indicates required follow-up, as directed;
  • Documents all medical contacts;
  • Assists physician and practitioners with relaying instructions to patients and families;
  • Replenishes supplies and removes biohazard waste from patient rooms as directed;
  • Maintains any necessary logs;
  • Participates in professional development activities to keep current with job responsibilities;
  • Follow all health care privacy and safety rules and adheres to Dayton Physicians Core Values;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Not applicable
Required Education and/ or Experience:
  • This position requires an active LPN license the state(s) of practice OR MA Certification
  • One (1) year of previous experience as an LPN or CMA
  • 2-4 years’ experience is preferred
General Skill Requirements:
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.  
  • Experience with a Practice Management system is preferred.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position to provide excellent customer service to both our internal and external stakeholders.
Physical/ Mental Demands:
The LPN/CMA position requires that ability to hear and speak clearly.  The position frequently is required use of wrists, hands, and fingers to touch type and grasp objects and to use legs and feet to walk, bend, twist, reach, and stretch throughout the day.  The position requires regular lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.  The position also requires the ability to answer telephone calls, transfer calls and work on the computer.
 
Environmental/ Working Conditions:
Work will be completed in a smoke-free, climate controlled medical office with the usual hazards of airborne germs, chemical, various odors, blood and other hazardous waste products.  Office spaces may include the use of parking lot within one half mile of the working location and may include the need to utilize stairs to access the working location.  This position may require travel to other office locations.
