Medical Coding and Billing
 
Dayton Physicians is looking for an experienced medical coder to join our Revenue Cycle Team! This position will work closely with our physician offices to ensure accurate and timely submissions for processing in our software.
 
 The Medical Coding Specialist codes and posts charges for services provided at the various clinical sites which includes hospital procedures and physician hospital rounds for Dayton Physicians Network in a timely and accurate manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes and interprets the medical record in its entirety to ensure accurate, complete and consistent selection of diagnoses and procedures to assure accurate payment;
  • Analyzes medical records for completeness of documentation and contacts physicians for clarification for any incomplete/ambiguous or conflicting documentation;
  • Receives, sorts and batches daily encounters from the DPN clinical service locations;
  • Completes appropriate batch summary sheets and balances all encounters with the physician schedules;
  • Reviews the procedure coding and diagnosis linking of each encounter for accuracy and adds appropriate modifiers, as necessary;
  • Posts charges to the patient’s account;
  • Balances all postings to batch sheets and to the day-end reports to insure accuracy of postings;
  • Utilizes the electronic claims preparation module of the Practice Management system to submit claims for transmission to the clearinghouse and payers;
  • Maintains accurate documentation within the practice management system of any comments or issues regarding charges for a particular date of service;
  • Follow all health care privacy and safety rules;
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Required Education and/ Experience:
  • 3-5 years’ medical coding experience preferred
  • ICD-10 coding is required
  • Strong working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS
  • Medical Coding certification preferred
  • Microsoft Office and general computer skills are required.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is required, preferred Onco experience.
  • High School diploma or GED is required
