Clinical Medical Physicist
Dayton Physicians Network is seeking a Medical Physicist to join our team and provide quality patient care in the Greater Dayton area. 
Dayton Physicians Network Radiation Oncology is accredited by the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO APEx) and our oncology program is credentialed by MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston. The selected candidate will be working with a team of radiation oncologists, medical physicists and medical dosimetrists. Our sites are equipped with Varian technology e.g. Truebeam/iX Linacs, Gammamed HDRs, Aria and Eclipse.
Under the direction of the Medical Physics Director, the medical physicist contributes to departmental operations through participation in clinical activities, the performance of quality assurance procedures, calibration of radiation therapy treatment equipment, implementation of new technologies and development of new procedures. The medical physicist maintains safe and effective patient care with regard to use of radiation in diagnosis and treatment delivery.

Required Education and Experience:
  1. The Medical Physicist position requires a Master's or Doctorate degree in medical physics, physics, nuclear engineering or biophysics.
  2. Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics or equivalent by the American Board of Radiology, The American Board of Medical Physics or The Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine. Candidates in the process of receiving ABR Certification will also be considered.
  3. The Medical Physicist position requires two years’ clinical experience. New graduates from a CAMPEP accredited residency program are encouraged to apply.
  4. Good communication skills for safe & effective treatment planning activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists radiation oncologists with treatment planning and assure accuracy of simulation and treatment delivery working with medical dosimetrists and radiation therapists;
  • Determines dosimetry characteristics for various types of radiation (high energy x-rays, electrons, etc.) and radiation- producing equipment;
  • Oversees treatment planning, checks patient treatment plans, and isodose verification;
  • Provides technical direction for radiation therapy operations;
  • Provides linear accelerator beam analysis, periodic calibration and maintenance;
  • Performs calibration, directs treatment planning and oversee delivery of HDR treatments;
  • Assists in evaluation of diagnostic and treatment equipment including software to maximize patient benefit;
  • Performs weekly chart checks and patient monitoring during treatments;
  • Assists in technology assessment, planning and purchase of major equipment;
