Position: Education & Quality Coordinator
 
Position Description:
Summary:
Provides clinical education and training to clinical staff including RN’s, LPN’s, and Medical Assistants in the clinic setting including annual/mandatory education. Assists Operations Managers in quality initiatives. Collaborates with Operations Managers developing standardized orientation plans. Develops and utilizes Competency-Based Assessments for initial and annual orientation of clinic staff. Performs chart audits and relays results to staff, clinical teams and Operations Managers. Ensures regulatory compliance, maintains quality and safety outcomes. Reports directly to the Director of Nursing in support of DPN providers and Operations Managers to deliver safe and appropriate care to our patients.
 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the training and education of clinic staff members; maintains all clinic staff education files.
• Performs chart audits and provides feedback.
• Provides feedback regarding clinical performance to Operations Managers for their use in annual reviews.
• Conducts data collection/ analysis and chart audits for quality reporting. Disseminates report data to provider teams and Operations Managers.
• Develops, implements and maintains initial competency check lists, structured orientation plans and annual competency checklists specific to each clinical role. 
• Participates in weekly huddles as needed and incorporates available resources to assist providers and Operations Managers.
• Demonstrates commitment to patient safety.  Assesses variances and communicates through appropriate channels.   
• Participates in the development of practice-related patient care and service standards and policy and procedures through continuous quality improvement; maintains patient care standards utilizing evidence-based practice as applicable.
• Actively supports evidenced-based program development and enhancement of patient care services by participating on committees and reporting activities back to staff. 
• Ensures bio-hazardous materials are handled according to OSHA, SDS, and organizational standard operating procedures.
• Identifies issues affecting the delivery of care and collaborates with Operations Managers and others in resolving.
• Partners with Operations Managers to ensure staff is working within scope of practice and to ensure clinical team works at top of licensure/responsibility; actively supports staff and self-development.
• Coordinates quality and safety initiatives to provide highest level of care. Collaborates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient, effective, evidence-based delivery of health services.
• Attains and maintains regulatory standards as directed by leadership; assists leaders in accreditation processes.
• Fosters patient and employee satisfaction. 
• Collaborates with Operations Managers in coordinating participation in evaluation of new products as applicable.
• Other duties as assigned.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Required Education and/ or Experience:
BSN preferred, RN required.  Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN); Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required. Three years’ experience as a clinical nurse; demonstrated skills in leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution, and group process. High degree of clinical expertise in specialty area managed
 
General Skill Requirements:
• Computer Skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word.
• EMR 
• Attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position to provide excellent customer service to both our internal and external stakeholders. 
 
Physical/ Mental Demands:
The Education & Quality Coordinator position requires the ability to hear and speak clearly.  This position frequently is required use wrists, hands and fingers to touch, type and grasp objects and to use legs and feet to walk, bend, twist, reach, and stretch throughout the day.  The position requires regular lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.  This position also requires the ability to answer telephone calls, transfer calls and work on the computer. 
 
Environmental/ Working Conditions:
Work will be completed in a smoke-free, climate controlled medical office with the usual hazards of airborne germs, chemicals, various odors, blood and other hazardous waste products.  Office spaces may include the use of a parking lot within one half mile of the working location and may include the need to utilize stairs to access the working location.  This position will require travel to other office locations.  May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
 
Hazardous Drug Warning:
Healthcare workers who prepare or administer hazardous drugs or who work in areas where these drugs are used may be exposed to these agents in air or on work surfaces, contaminated clothing, medical equipment, patient excreta, or other sources. Studies have associated workplace exposures to hazardous drugs with health effects such as skin rashes and adverse reproductive events (including infertility, spontaneous abortions or congenital malformations) and possibly leukemia and other cancers. The health risk is influenced by the extent of the exposure and the potency and toxicity of the hazardous drug. Potential health effects can be minimized though sound procedures for handling hazardous drugs, engineering controls and proper use of protective equipment to protect workers to the greatest degree possible.
