Being a Memory Maker as a Bar Manager

In this role, you will become part of the Edwardian family and work within Food and Beverage in The May Fair

To manage the operation of bar/lounge by developing and implementing strategies and services which meet the needs of owners, employees and guests



Key Requirements

 

  • Understands the strategic positioning of the hotel and company within the competitive market
  • Understands the tools of financial management, and uses them to predict and affect the hotels position
  • IT applications: Micros, Opera, Quadranet, My Hr World
  • Local area knowledge, including local competition in the market segment
  • Has food and beverage product knowledge, and an awareness of menus and pricing guidelines
  • Has a good command of the English language
  • Knowledge of Radisson Blu Edwardian systems and procedures
  • Is able to confidently communicate and establish rapport
  • Is able to improve the decision process making by clarifying and setting goals, sharing perspectives on reality, identifying options and creating consensus on a way forward.
  • Has the ability to relate to, communicate with, and motivate employees to sustain high performance and quality levels.
  • Is an advocate for positive change and improvement within the organization by identifying and communicating the compelling need for change and improvements.
  • Can develop and guide others in professional growth and performance enhancement through assuring clarity of goals, employing reflective listening skills, and facilitating the generation of options and action planning.
  • Can assign tasks using such techniques as needs analysis, individual skills assessment, objective setting and communication.
  • Has the ability to manage to and achieve budget goals by analyzing historical data and forecasting costs and revenues
  • Uses results-oriented writing techniques and strategies for correspondence (e.g. memos, letters, reports, emails, proposals, etc.) with correct grammar and punctuation.
  • Is able to analyses and controls costs, in order to maintain positive cash flow and to maximize profitability
  • Ensures effective communication and synergy between bar/lounge team and other hotel departments
  • Creates 100% guest satisfaction by providing the company experience through performance that demonstrates the standards of, genuine hospitality and exceeding guest expectations
  • Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility and uses teamwork when providing guest service
  • Listens, apologizes with empathy, finds a solution and follows through when resolving guest problems
  • Provides Yes I Can genuine hospitality and teamwork on an ongoing basis
  • Assumes the responsibility to notice when the guest is not satisfied and uses their best judgment as to when it is appropriate to use the 100% Guest Satisfaction
  • Develops and implements plans to achieve revenue and profit goals
  • Carries out company cash handling and control procedures
  • Manages the stock rotation and time sheets/rotas
  • Works in accordance to the standards set in the F and B standards manual
  • Participates in the development of the marketing plan for the bar/lounge by keeping current on competitors on a regular basis
  • Provides employees with current up-to-date information on drink specials and menu items
  • Increases sales by coaching employees on effective sales techniques
  • Maximizes productivity by using forecasting techniques to adjust scheduling
  • Training of staff in all aspects of bar tending including cocktails, cash handling, Micros and recording it. Leading by example
  • Coordinates the set up of lounge area and service in accordance with Radisson Blu Edwardian Gap and F and B Standards
  • Manages the food and beverage service provided in the department
  • Inspects lounge area on an on-going basis and takes appropriate steps to ensure facilities meet or exceeds the hotel's standards at all times
  • Leads monthly staff meetings
  • Develops and implements strategies and practices which support employee engagement
  • Understands and complies with licensing laws
  • Ensures that bar is kept scrupulously clean, and is cleared down at the end of each session
  • 90 day induction carried out as per company policy and properly recorded
  • Recruits and selects qualified candidates
  • Provides employees with the orientation and training needed to understand expectations and perform job responsibilities
  • Communicates performance expectations and provides employees with on-going feedback
  • Communicates and reinforces the vision for Making People Feel Special service to employees
  • Uses teamwork to support guests and employees
  • Seeks opportunities to improve the customer experience by seeking customer feedback, reviewing management reports and guest comments in order to improve department and hotel services
  • Personal focus on evening operation to deliver required revenue and excellent service and production of sales report to show the effectiveness of promotions
  • To ensure the bar is constantly promoted internally and externally
  • Provides employees with the tools, training and environment they need to deliver Yes I Can service and teamwork
  • Be aware of all health and safety regulations regarding department and Hotel
  • Attend all training sessions as required
  • Adhere to all emergency procedures, e.g. fire, and bomb
  • Performs other duties required to provide the service brand behavior and genuine hospitality
