Being a Memory Maker as a Chief House Steward

In this role, you will become part of the Edwardian family and work within Housekeeping in The May Fair



Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

  • Wears correct uniform and name badge & pin and maintains appearance as per company standards.
  • Demonstrates excellent time keeping and completes duties assigned.
  • Maintains excellent record of attendance.
  • Reports and follows up maintenance issues using MMS system.
  • Manages the appearance and daily performance of the House Steward department.
  • Determines appropriate staffing levels of Stewards for forecasted business and manages the rota accordingly.
  • Manages daily stock take, daily issuing to the floors/F&B outlets, weekly purchasing, and cost control for all linens.
  • Manage par stock of bedding items, items are organize for easy access, records managed for items send out for cleaning and return and cost control.
  • Manage part stock of the chef uniforms (jacket, trousers, apron and skull cap); also daily exchange dirty for clean, weekly collection/delivery and cost control.
  • Ensure that clean linen not left unattended but secured.
  • Monitor/manage the condition of linens, all reject linen correctly counted and send back to the company for replacement as appropriate, ensure that records are correct as per hotel standards.
  • Ensures proper utilization and maintenance of the equipment.
  • Trains employees on the proper utilization of equipment and cleaning materials and on appropriate safety procedures.
  • Trains new starters in steward position, provide guidance and instructions to enable them to meet company procedures and standards.
  • Uses teamwork to support guests and employees.
  • Ensures that delivery notes, and requisition notes are in compliance with Edwardian Hotels procedures and are correct.
  • Ensures quantity and quality checks are carried out on all goods received.
  • Certifies that all goods are checked and received.
  • Ensures that all goods received are securely stored.
  • Ensures that all stores are kept clean and tidy.
  • Ensures that goods issued and ordered are based upon the authorization of a requisition note.
  • Day to day management of stores and stocks.
  • Maintains a spotless clean, tidy and pleasant smelling corridor, trolleys, linen cupboard and back areas.
  • Ensures back of house/linen areas, public areas are to be kept tidy and free from any trip hazards whilst working.
  • Works with housekeepers to record carpet cleaning, changing of curtains etc.
  • Assists room attendants/section housekeepers as of when necessary.
  • Makes the housekeepers aware of anything you see that requires attention.
  • Ensures that security of guest’s belongings, including the return and logging of all lost property.
  • Ensures guest requests are auctioned in a timely manner.
  • Ensures back areas and changing room are kept spotlessly clean and tidy at all times.

  • Demonstrates understanding of the technical service skills for the housekeeping area.
  • Excellent command of English language, ability to communicate effectively with guest and fellow colleagues.
  • Displays excellent team working skills.
  • Has a high level of attention to detail.
  • Has the knowledge to manage a budget effectively.
  • Is able to use technology such as IRS, Excel, Word, My Hr World, POP etc.
  • Is aware of Health and safety procedures.
