Being a Memory Maker as a Head Host / Hostess

In this role, you will become part of the Edwardian family and work within Food and Beverage in Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury Street



 

 Essential Functions

The job of a Head Host/Hostess is very important to the smooth running of the restaurant. A Head host/hostess is the person who manages the operations of the hostess team. The role is essential to ensure that our guests get the most out of their dining experience. It is their duty to ensure that guests are welcomed in a professional manner with etiquette and sophistication. A Head host/hostess should be smart, enthusiastic and polite at all times and have excellent organisation skills.

 

The  Head host/hostess will present key information to the team regarding guest requirements and VIPs at the Pre Service Meeting.

 



 

 Duties and Responsibilities

To meet and greet guest in a way that makes them feel special

To assist in taking the coats and bags of each guest and issuing the guest with a safety ticket

Have a disciplined approach to table return times and communicating effectively with the host/hostess team to ensure tables turnovers run smoothly and efficiently

Answer the telephone in a polite and professional manner and deal with any telephone reservations/enquiries efficiently

To escort guests to their table in an elegant and professional manner

To ensure company’s procedures and standards are maintained to ensure consistent delivery of service

To serve F&B customers in a way that makes them feel special

Ensure reservation are taken in accordance with the Hotel’s standards

To check and maintain reservations for the restaurant including corresponding and follow up on all reservations and enquiries for the restaurant and bar

To maintain and display in-depth Food and Beverage knowledge consistently, in order to WOW the guest and promote sales

Works closely with the Restaurant and Bar Manager, Head Barman/Waiter/ess and Front of House Managers to achieve success indicators and perform effectively in areas of responsibility

Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility and uses teamwork to provide excellent guest service

Assumes responsibility to gather information about each guest in order to update client database, and uses details to ensure a truly personal service

Communicate effectively and respectfully to guests on all levels

Communicate effectively and respectfully to all members of staff

Multi task and prioritise your work

Explain the dining concept effectively

Have full knowledge of the food menu

Have full knowledge of the bar and wine products

To deliver service standards in accordance with the Brand Service Bible

To adhere to the brand grooming standards in accordance with the official Brand Guideline Bible and to remain within such standards for the entirety of a working shift

Assumes responsibility to keep up-to-date with food and beverage products and to find out about daily specials and new menu additions

Keeps up to date with health and safety regulations, and adheres to emergency procedures

Assess guest complaints/issues taking proper, prompt, and effective corrective action to ensure the best possible satisfaction to our guests

Conduct oneself in such a manner as to reflect the brand service standards of the company. Act as a leader and role model for all staff to emulate

Develop and update files on regular diners and Vip’s, including contact details, likes and dislikes and other general information

Maintain communication with management as to any issues/ special requests in relation to guests

Responsible for ordering stationary for the department and keeping office equipment maintained

Organise and chair monthly Reservations meetings with the full team to ensure effective communication, discuss reservation strategies and other matters relevant for the team

Participate in the management meeting to ensure effective communication between the department

Works alongside the Front of House Managers, Restaurant and Bar Manager and Head Bar Tenders to ensure that a cohesive and well-structured rota is issued each week with effective cost control on payroll

Key Requirements

 

 

 The Requirements

Is able to use IT applications

Experience with Open Table and other online booking channels

Is able to achieve a 100% pass mark in Micros competency tests

Food & beverage product

Excellent local area awareness

Good command of the English language

Confident ability to communicate and establish rapport

Has knowledge of technical service skills

Ability to use relevant e-mail and word programmes

Has a good command of the English language

Understanding of financial budgeting and forecasting, and the impact of promotional activity

Has the ability to make decisions by clarifying goals, sharing perspectives, identifying options and created a way forward

Has the ability to relate to, communicate with, and motivate employees to sustain high performance and quality levels

Is able to develop and guide others in professional growth and performance enhancement through assuring clarity of goals, employing reflective listening skills, and facilitating the generation of options and action planning
