Seeking an Epic Security Analyst to join our team in NYC.

Reporting to the Enterprise Security Architect - Epic, the Information Technology Security Analyst -Epic, is responsible for executing, implementing, improving, and supporting all identity security policies and procedures within the Enterprise EHR application and affiliated systems within Weill Cornell Medicine, Columbia University Medical Center, and NewYork-Presbyterian Health System. The Analyst provides tactical and operational support for the implementation of Enterprise Epic systems including involvement and/or support for additional Epic modules as needed. The individual will be part of a consortium team with colleagues at affiliated institutions, consisting of clinicians, project managers, analysts, and developers with module specific domain expertise. This position works closely with clinical and business users and assists a multi-disciplinary team in the design, implementation, optimization, change management, and issue resolution related to the enterprise system. This position requires broad exposure to systems such as the Epic platform, along with clinical workflow and business processes. As an Analyst for the Enterprise Epic initiative, this individual will collaborate with appropriate technical and operational leaders from affiliated institutions. 

Must be Epic Security certified.

Special Instructions        

Preferred Qualifications                Degree or major in Computer Science or related field preferred.

Master's degree preferred.

ITIL or PMP Certification preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to develop proficiency with unfamiliar toolsets

- Experience working with physicians and or researchers is preferred

- Knowledge in Operating Systems and Databases: Microsoft Windows, UNIX, Oracle, SQL

- Knowledge of Programming Languages where applicable: Java, HTML, Visual Basic, C, C++, Perl

- Familiarity with HL-7, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Visio, ITSM

- Familiarity with either clinical or financial systems such as Epic, IDX, Eagle, Touchworks, Eclipsys, Sunrise Clinical Manager, AthenaHealth 


Defines and implements the application level security infrastructure and ensures user access matches the institutional role, following the established policies and procedures. Assists in the development and maintenance of the policies and procedures.

- Processes identity and information access requests within the established service level agreement (SLA) while minimizing risk and escalation. Ensures timely completion of tasks and deliverables, provides oral and written communications regarding assignment status.

- Provides analytical support for enterprise projects dealing with identity and security management and works with systems staff to modify application configuration to meet the intent and spirit of regulatory requirements in the manner least disruptive of efficient care delivery.

- Maintain and manage user roles builds. As new user builds are required, work with the Privacy and Security Architect to identify new role builds.

- Works with the departments, systems staff, and Privacy Offices to collect information and develop corrective action plans to resolve any violations. Maintains a regular follow-up schedule to assess current and future customer needs.

- Provides senior management with regular reports on privacy issue trends and presents analysis against industry benchmarks under direction from the Privacy & Security Architect.

- Works with the Security Architect on analyzing Privacy and security incidents. Monitors and creates daily reports to establish access anomalies to investigate. Along with the Security Architect, works with Information Security Officers and Compliance Officers on incidents.

- Participates in application and interface testing for clinical information and practice management systems.

- Supports One to Two projects for security and identity tasks/issues and supports clinics before, during, and after go-live.

- In all job areas, promotes and maintains a favorable work environment for yourself and others to assist in the overall mission of the medical colleges and hospital. Advocates within the organization(s) for the projects assigned and the business and strategic goals they are intended to meet. Maintains a positive customer centered service ethic.

- Works in multiple phases of systems and applications analysis, and considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment.

- Represents the department team in user meetings and perform project management duties as needed. Work with other departments to understand their needs.

- Coordinates application development and migration with developers from multiple teams.

- Provide support during non-working hours to ensure the operation of production systems in a 24 x 7 environment.

- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
