Job Description


We're seeking a Network Engineer L2- Data Communications for a FTE opportunity located in Gainesville, FL. 


Job Opening Summary
  • Design, implement, and provide ongoing support for the organization's network environment (local and wide area networks).
  • Responsibilities include:  Installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, performance monitoring, management and optimization to ensure stability and integrity of the data, voice, video and wireless networks; implement network security standards; development and testing of backup and recovery procedures; problem identification and resolution; network conceptual and logical designs; network documentation.
  • Other duties could include:  IP administration functions; content switch network configuration and support; 3rd party software installation/configuration. 
  • Assist in the research, analyze and recommend standards, procedures, and new technologies to improve network availability, performance, and recovery. 
  • Assess project proposals for compliance with network standards, risk, implementation and ongoing support requirements, and ability to meet proposed timelines. 
  • Perform the role of network project lead on assigned projects and support initiatives. 
  • Organize and lead meetings. 
  • Actively participate in project teams. 
  • This position may be required to access confidential data in order to perform job responsibilities. 
  • On-call support responsibilities are required.

 

Job Opening Qualifications

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in computer science or another applicable area of study plus three (3) years of experience in network design, implementation and support is required; however, an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree. Examples of relevant work experience include healthcare experience, project management, network design and support, and Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE.

The following is desirable and considered a plus:
  • Certifications such as those offered by CISCO Systems (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCDA), or Project Management Certifications (PMP) certifications.
  • Hands-on experience with the following products is desired:  Router/switch network hardware and operating systems, firewalls, wireless architectures, location services, VoIP, access control products (i.e. Cisco products, ACS, TACACS, VPN); network management, monitoring and support tools (such as NimBUS, Statseeker, SolarWinds and network protocol analyzers). 
  • Familiarity with the following products is considered a plus: AirMagnet, Juniper Firewalls, Radius, AeroScout RFID architectures, UNIX and Microsoft operating systems. 
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to:
    -  Define the scope, level of effort, and implementation timeline for assigned projects.
    -  Complete tasks within the assigned timeline.  
    -  Work cooperatively in a team environment with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    -  Lead project teams
