Job Description


This position is responsible for leading the detailing design of process piping systems to installation projects, primarily within customer facilities. From conceptual sketches and 3D scanning to modeling, and shop drawings, our Piping Detailer is involved in an engaging process that rewards their efforts with the satisfaction of seeing their designs become a reality. In this role, you’ll be able to advance your Plant 3D and Autodesk Inventor skills and work alongside seasoned team members.

 

While working under limited supervision, the Piping Detailer must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a high-volume and fast-paced environment. This position requires an individual that is detail oriented, self-motivated, has a broad understanding of manufacturing processes, and will remain persistent in the development of innovative solutions.

 

A successful Piping Detailer is self-aware in their knowledge and abilities and will successfully collaborate with individuals and resources to fulfill any lacking areas. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and adaptability to technological changes are required. The ability to handle multiple tasks in challenging situations while continuing to advance skills specific to company’s use of drafting and design software is essential. Up to 10% of travel may be required with this position.

 

Required Skills

Education/Training

     Associate's or Bachelor's degree; Drafting/Design or Mechanical Manufacturing emphasis, preferred

     Technical emphasis, preferred

Required Experience

     Facilities piping layout and detailing experience, required

o     2-5 years

     Autodesk Plant 3D

o     2 years minimum, no older than 5 releases from current release, required

     Autodesk Vault

o     2 years minimum, no older than 4 releases from current release, preferred

     AutoCAD (2-D and 3-D)

o     2 years minimum, no older than 4 releases from current release, required

     Inventor, preferred

     Prior mechanical design experience, required

     Sufficient custom design knowledge of sanitary process components, preferred

     Prior estimating experience of custom fabricated components, preferred

     Proficient in Microsoft Excel, required

     Proficient in Microsoft Word, required

 

With or without reasonable accommodation, the successful candidate must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the workday, have close visual acuity, and constantly operate a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a phone, copy/fax/scan machine, computer keyboard, and mouse.
