Job Description


The role is a key member of the organization responsible for the design, development and implementation of the controls systems for HVAC products that meet or exceed best-in-class performance. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the development of quality control system software.  He / She will lead development of embedded firmware for HVAC controllers, smart sensors, room displays and other smart building IoT devices.  He / She will work with in house engineering teams, guide contract development resources and collaborate closely with our global corporate partners.  The candidate is expected to be a team player who will work closely with colleagues and collaborate with the other business unit engineering teams.

Duties & Responsibilities

•  Develop embedded controller firmware for HVAC applications.

•  Develop embedded firmware for Smart Building IoT devices, such as sensors and user displays

•  Write firmware design specifications based on system design specifications

•  Perform firmware unit testing and document.

•  Support firmware test engineering and resolve issues as prioritized by project team

•  Support system design engineering, product engineering, manufacturing, sales & marketing, quality and supply chain functions

•  Guide any external, contract development resources

•  Collaborate with corporate platform development team to re-use platform assets.  Provide technical requirements to drive specific requirements and feedback on any issues.


Experience & qualifications

   5+ years of product development experience

   Experience with Linux OS running on ARM processors

   Programming languages C, C++, assembler, and Visual Basic

   Experience using various integrated development environments (IDE)

   Experience with defect tracking systems, version controls systems, requirements capture, system architecture modelling

   Experience developing and implementing unit tests

   Good communication and organizational skills

   Evaluate and manage risks, solve problems and achieve project objectives

   Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

   Self-motivation, innovation drive, accountability and ownership

Desirable

•  Working knowledge of BACnet and Modbus protocols

•  Visual C++, C#, Visual Basic, Java, JavaScript, PHP, Python, etc.

•  Experience using various IDEs, including Visual Studio, Eclipse, etc.

•  National Instruments LabView suite of development tools

•  Experience developing Web services for the Internet of Things (IoT)

•  Agile product development methods

•  Knowledge of HVAC control system design and applications

•  Embedded operating systems, including Linux, etc.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other related field, or equivalent directly related experience.

•  Minimum travel is required
