Job Description

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the daily nursing operation of the assigned Residential Program. Under the supervision of the Sr. Director or designee, the Nurse Manager will be responsible for supervision of unit nurses, the maintenance of quality patient care in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and accreditation standards. The following duties will apply

Direct Clinical Services

a. Reviews all admission documentation to identify client needs related to medical, behavioral health and medication concerns.

b. In collaboration with providers and Sr. Director, triages admissions that are not appropriate for 816/820 levels of care and refers client to case management/admissions for further treatment planning and referrals

c. Documents in medical record review of medical information in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements.

d. Meets with the client within 24 hours of admission to review medical and mental health information, establish base line vital signs, review current medication regime, develop Medication Administration Record, inspect medication brought by client, send in information to pharmacy for medication in need of refill, notifies the medical/mental health provider of the admission and schedules an appointment with the provider for a medical/mental health assessment.

2. Staff Development and Management

a. Assist and support in all human resources functions for nursing and ancillary service including hiring, firing, and disciplinary action; maintains appropriate documentation and ensures compliance with all FLACRA policies and requirements;

b. Ensures that staffing levels and coverage are adequate to meet patient care and regulatory requirements;

c. Assumes managerial duties for performance evaluations and maintains systems to provide regular feedback and evaluation for employees;

3. Program Planning and Management

a. Oversees and controls supplies that directly impact patient care (e.g., ordering and charging of stock medications, medical supplies and patient care equipment and/or supplies);

b. Responsible for maintaining and updating the Monthly Program Report due the 5th of the following month.

c. Assist the Director of Nursing to provide overall direction and guidance for nursing and laboratory programs in FLACRA Health Centers;

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

RN Degree with 3 years of clinical experience, 2 or which will include addictions and/or Behavioral Health experience. Master’s preferred. Minimum of three years increasingly responsible nursing management, experience preferably in residential setting or in-patient. Valid NYS Drivers’ License. NYS RN License Required.
