Position Summary:

The Admissions Coordinator develops and manages initial contact as necessary with discharge planner, family, or responsible party to initiate tour and follow-up procedures.  They manage the tour process using established tour practices that promote effective conversion of referrals to admissions, and ensure timely and effective tours are conducted and other staffs are trained to tour in the Admission Coordinator’s absence. The Admissions Coordinator manages the admissions process, to include the use of all mandatory admissions paperwork, timely and accurate completion of paperwork, courteous treatment of residents and family members, and implementation of quality/expectation setting guidelines where appropriate. They also provide pertinent information about incoming residents to all relevant departments within the facility. Develops and implements internal in servicing of key employees regarding their role in the admissions process.  Finally, the Admissions Coordinator conducts external sales activity with current referral sources to increase census. 

Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidate must be a skilled communicator, director and motivator
  • 1+ years of experience in an Admissions position in healthcare environment
  • Long term care experience required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology – ability to discuss clinical evaluations with physicians and other care givers within facility
  • Must be detail oriented and have excellent customer service skills
  • Able to react to emergency situations appropriately when required
  • Must be able to travel locally by personal automobile as required
