Job Description

Position Summary:

The PACU Registered Nurse RN is responsible for:

  • Provides direct patient care to adult through geriatric patient populations.
  • Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment.
  • Assists with the maintenance of PACU equipment and inventory.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Responsible for monitoring patient’s physiological status in the immediate postoperative environment.
  • Communicates with surgeons and anesthesiologist continuously, and as needed, about patient conditions; receives direction for patient management.
  • Intercedes to maintain optimum homeostasis.


  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN Preferred
  • Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) licensure from the Nevada Board of Nursing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • At least two (2) years’ of work experience in PACU
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), or be able to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of a critical care course for HOU or IMC preferred; CCRN highly preferred. Orthopedic experience preferred.
