Job Responsibilities

As a Director of Nursing, you will provide excellent leadership to our talented Nursing Department. It will be your responsibility to provide an environment for effective relationship-based care and to ensure that the department consistently provides high quality care with positive patient outcomes.

Your specific duties in this role will include:

  • Ensuring that care and service delivery is provided to our residents effectively and efficiently
  • Ensuring continued adherence to any and all federal, state, and local regulations or guidelines
  • Providing planning, organization, supervision, and evaluation of all services provided in our facility
  • Verifying that all department staff is properly trained to perform their required duties
  • Ensuring that operation of the Nursing Department remains consistently within budget

Job Requirements


As a Director of Nursing, you must be a creative and innovative leader, with superior problem-solving and crisis-resolution skills as well as strong training, educational, and mentoring abilities. It is also important that you display excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to interact in a compassionate and empathetic way with residents and families.


Specific qualifications for the role include:

  • Nursing degree from an accredited program
  • Current and valid RN Registered Nurse license
  • Minimum 2-3 years as Director of Nursing in a long-term care facility
  • OR 5 years as a Nurse Supervisor
  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable regulations plus experience maintaining regulatory compliance
  • DON certification, a plus
  • Gerontological Nursing board certification, a plus
