Nursing Home Administrator (Healthcare Management)




Job Responsibilities
As a Nursing Home Administrator, you will be responsible for the leadership, management, and overall success of your community. This will include oversight of services, staff, fiscal/budgetary matters, regulatory compliance, and business development. Your ultimate overall goal will certainly be to ensure the recovery and continued health and quality of life of your residents.
Your specific duties in this role will include:



  • Managing overall facility operations and leading by example with regards to customer service, employee relations, and quality assurance

  • Maintaining a working knowledge of and enforcing all regulations and policies

  • Ensuring effective utilization of budget, including Medicaid and Medicare funds

  • Managing, communicating, and controlling the factors that affect the budget

  • Creating an effective marketing strategy and leading an internal team in the implementation of that strategy

  • Promoting, understanding, and complying with all rules regarding residents' rights

  • Serving as a liaison/ambassador to the community at large

Job Requirements
As a Nursing Home Administrator, you must be a creative, innovative, and hands-on leader, with superior problem-solving and crisis-resolution skills. You should also have strong local networking skills and the ability to serve as your facility’s ambassador to the surrounding community. It is also important that you display excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to interact in a compassionate and empathetic way with residents and families.
Specific qualifications for the role include:



  • Current and valid Nursing Home Administrator license for the state of PA

  • Bachelor’s degree or appropriate education to meet state licensure requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a nursing home administrator

  • Experience in performance management

  • Fiscally astute with experience managing nursing home budgets

  • Strong business development, marketing, and public relations skills

  • Exceptional multitasking abilities

  • Availability to travel as needed, including overnight stays

  • Ability to meet all local health regulations and pass the post-employment physical exam, drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry if required
