We are currently seeking outstanding candidates for the new position of Business Analyst.  This position will play an important role in developing and realizing the vision of how our financial planning and analysis systems should work. Reports to the Director of FP&A and interacts daily with the FP&A team members. Successful candidate will also have extensive contact with our Information Systems department, external consultants, and leaders around the organization with the purpose of ensuring that the right financial and operational information is available in the right format, to the right people, at the right time. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Development and administration of the financial planning and analysis system, currently Cognos.
    • Gathers input on the information needs of multiple diverse stakeholders across the organization, and uses that information to develop a dynamic vision of how our financial planning system(s) should be designed to best support analysis, forecasting, reporting, data distribution, and budgeting. Then drives that vision to realization.
    • With support from IS&T and external consultants and working in concert with the FP&A team, ensures that the inner workings of the system are prepared to provide optimal performance during periods of peak usage such as the annual budgets, monthly closes, and periodic forecasting.
    • Develops and maintains automated or manual linkages to ancillary systems such as the general ledger, payroll, and provider charge systems. Is responsible for the integrity of the data within the financial analysis system.
    • Recommends and leads the implementation of system updates
    • Develops reports, dashboards, and other data access, query, or visualization tools to support users. Is responsible for the integrity of the data presented by these tools.
    • Provides system training and user support
    • Ensures that the organization is making optimal usage of the system’s capabilities
  • Engages with other areas across the organization to drive consistent definitions and understandings  of performance metrics and to provide a point of access where stakeholders can view those metrics
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all systems available within MFA Finance and ensures we have the access and training to utilize those systems
  • Maintains current knowledge of the field of relevant products in the market and recommends new systems or upgrades as needed
  • Maintains and ensures the integrity of FP&A databases
  • Finds creative ways of procuring and organizing needed data into accessible databases
  • Assists Director and FP&A team as needed
  • Other projects as assigned

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field is required. Relevant advanced degree is desirable. Must have credentials in the form of education or experience supporting your skill set with regard to the Information Technology aspects of the job, and must also demonstrate via education or experience that you’re conversant with financial analysis and impactful data presentation.

Minimum five years of experience as a Business Analyst is required. Experience in Healthcare is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft software (Excel, etc.) is required.  Demonstrable knowledge of ERP systems; of Cognos, Hyperion, Strata, KH, or other germane enterprise budgeting and financial systems; and data visualization and distribution applications such as Microsoft BI, Cognos Analytics, or Tableau, are all strongly preferred. Also required is the experience and ability to work successfully within a Finance department, effectively communicate IT concepts to non-IT people and non-IT concepts to IT people, understand our and our customers’ needs, and proactively ensure that our systems meet those needs. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
